My gosh, am I starting it today?
Drinking SBC with cinnamon again. I am predictable. :)
Leaving today to go to Greenville SC to visit DBF! Going diamond shopping! Yay!

Wow, I'm second! Yeah, for jet lag ;)
Diamond shopping, very exciting. Do you have a cut preference?
My plans for the day include putting any final items into my car, taking a long walk and hanging out with my family. Tomorrow my mom and I get in my car and head west from Atlanta to SF for a long road trip :D
Good morning, everyone!

We prefer the round cut. I am so traditional that way. I like square cut as well.
Have fun with your road trip. I have driven from TX to NY 3 times!
I won't be on here for too long. Have to get going to work since I have to leave early. Sometimes my boss all of a sudden changes her mind about us leaving early for things, when usually she does not mind. Even when I flex my time.
Good morning!
Mobear- have fun diamond shopping! :)
Emily- have a safe roadtrip!
I'm so glad it's Friday! Woke up sick on Mon, went to the dr's Tuesday AM. After four days of antibiotics, I'm still running a fever and coughing my lungs out, so I have to go back in this morning to be reevaluated. DH has been gone all week, but arranged an earlier flight, so will be back around noon today. As soon as he comes home, I'm handing the baby off to him and collapsing in bed!
DD1 has a slumber party at a friend's house tonight for this girl's bday. Other than that, no plans for the weekend.
Our temps are supposed to be in the 70s this weekend. Yeah!

good morning!
Wow, mobear! That sounds exciting. Round cut is my favorite, personally. Have fun!
Emily, be careful on your road trip. That should be an interesting trip. I'll look forward to stories. :)
Sue, I hope you get to feeling better so you can enjoy the nice weather this weekend.
Let's see. I have Night OWLS tonight. DBF and I are doing something tomorrow, though we haven't decided what. We may do a 5K in the morning that is put on by the SEcret Service. I think I decided I don't want to though--aren't those people usually really fit? We're definitely spending the day together--maybe a long bike ride, or a day trip somewhere to hike, or both. We'll see.
Sunday is church and maybe a bike ride w/ a friend.
Oh, Monday I have an interview w/ the person over the Special Ed program I applied to at the Univ. of N. Texas. I found out this week that I was accepted to the graduate college. :) I'm excited, scared, nervous, anxious...not of the interview but of the pending career change. :) It'll all work out somehow.
Have a great weekend, everyone!

Happy Spring morning, everyone! The sun finally decided to visit us in Boston :)
Good luck with diamond shopping Mobear, how much fun! Emily, have fun and enjoy your trip- how long will it take?
Sue, feel better. I remember those days that I was ready to hand over DS as soon as I heard DH car pull in to the driveway!
We're expecting 70's here too- finally hoping to do some serious outdoor cleanup. It's supposed to be 80 on Monday, which is not good news for the Boston Marathon runners.
Have a nice weekend everyone!
Ellyn
Jennifer- congrats on the grad school acceptance! Good luck with the interview, too.

Jennifer - Good luck with interview and impending career change. Scary, but definitely an adventure worth taking, IMO.
Sue - sorry you're feeling so bad. I hate how spring seems to do that to people.
Mobear - have a good day at work, if that's possible ;)
I just talked my mom into going on a walk with me, but first she wants to finish the Sean Penn movie she's watching. I guess I could go put those random things - sleeping bag, paintings - into the car...

Good morning all!
Mobear, congrats on the diamond shopping, VERY exciting!
Sue, I hope you feel better soon, esp since the weather is getting better!
Emily, good luck on the road trip!
Jennifer, congrats on the grad school acceptance!
Not too much around here. Dh and I are going on a date tonight to dinner and to see Kill Bill 2. Tomorrow DH is hosting a bachelor party for his best friend at our house and then to the strip club. So I get to help finishe cleaning the house and then the dog and I will go to my brothers and then I'm supposed to get together with the girls but I'm not sure if it's all been worked out yet! We'll see. Sunday will be relaxing and enjoying the outdoors, hopefully a bike ride and grilling.
Hello to all after me!

Good Morining,
I'm drinking a mix of Irish Creme and Cinnamon Decaf. Made at home. Adding a little caffeine back.
Mobear ~ have fun shopping!
Emily ~ have a fun/safe trip.
Sue ~ hope you are feeling better soon.
Jennifer ~ congrats on being accepted. Your running and biking are inspiring me to get off my butt!
This weekend is FINALLY going to be nice and we will be painting the garage and the trim from the front door installation. Sunday....WE RIDE!!! I cannot wait to make some noise. We had this whole nightmare with DH='s bike. Yamaha recalled it in January without having repair kits to fix the problem so I applied for the Lemon Law..it was fixed within two weeks, just this week. Gotta do what ya gotta do.

Oooh, Linsley, I didn't know that Vol II had opened! Maybe I'll go see a matinee :)
Hi Ellyn! We're planning on taking about 2.5 weeks to do it. Taking all the back roads, not driving too far each day. Stopping for a few days in Houston and Las Vegas where I have aunts and friends.
HDgirl - It seems like the sunny weather is abounding. It's already a gorgeous morning here. Have a great time riding this weekend :D

Wow, a busy klatch early today.
We've got a quiet weekend in store, NO KIDS!! Well, Tuesday is our 8th Anniversary so we're going out to eat on Saturday. I got a new dress to wear too, that I won't let DH see until tomorrow. Other than dinner out we don't have much planned. I want to do some baking and I need to do some cleaning!
MIL/FIL are picking the girls up from school and our neice's birthday party is tomorrow afternoon. DH and I aren't going down for that since we'll be down there on Sunday and don't want to make the drive twice. Besides, we had less that a week's notice about the party. *GRRRR*
Sue,
I hope you are feeling better soon!!
Emily,
Have a great trip!!
Mobear,
Have fun diamond shopping!
Karen,
Enjoy your ride! I'm glad your DH='s bike is fixed now.
Jen,
That's great news about grad school!!!!
Ellyn,
Enjoy your beautiful weather.
Linsley,
Have a great date and I hope DH doesn't have too much fun at the bachelor party. :D :D

Leigh ~ have a nice anniversary dinner. Happy Anniversary!! New dress, huh? ;) No kids?
Linsley ~ have a fun date tonight. I want to see that, need to see the first one though. I am going to rent House of Sand and Fog for tomorrow. I just finished the book.
Ellyn ~ we need to spend the whole day tomorrow outside. It will probably kill me listening to the bikes going by and I can't go and play.
Leigh and Linsley - have fun on your dates! :) Leigh- let us know what DH says about your new dress- I think it's beautiful!

Karen enjoy your ride, most of our friends have harleys and Dh keeps saying he wants one. Um, no, sorry you spend enough money on your little gun collecting hobby. Plus I know him, he'd never ride it!
House of Sand and Fog is good, not quite how I pictured it from the book but I did read the book a few years ago so I actually forgot a few of the things that were happening. Enjoy!
I'm excited about tonight, we haven't done this in quite awhile, been too busy and trying to save money for taxes. But now taxes are paid and it's payday so what could be better!:)
Leigh, have fun on your date and enjoy the new dress!

Good Morning everyone. Not much planned today, just exciting dentist appointments and shopping for good clothes for Rob. We actually have back to back dentist appointments which was totally unplanned. Will also be nursing the bruised hockey ego.......
emily, I can't believe you were up two hours ago!! Did you sleep at all?
Leigh, I love the dress. Happy Anniversary!
Linsley, have a fun date.

Karen, I grew up with a family that had everything from Honda sport bikes to Ducati's to Harleys and my dad just bought a bmw bike. I just can't imagine Dh trying to get into all of that though I wouldn't mind riding on back!:)

Hi everyone. I haven't been around much because Mom's not here to tease. :D
She says she's sorry she missed everyone last week, and that she won't be here today. She & Dad are helping out his cousin who owns/operates food trailers at a local fair. She has her first job/client next week and is excited about that. She also says that she should be here for the klatch next friday.
Have a great weekend everyone. It's time for my mid-morning nap so I've gotta go. Need my beauty sleep and all! :D

Emily, your trip sounds great. We're starting to plan a trip next year from CA to IN.

HDGirl, Have a great ride.
Leigh, Happy anniversary. I still love the dress.
Linda, Enjoy your quiet weekend.

And hello to all who post after. Being early is fun!
Permission to desert for the rest of the day? I'm off to Vegas with DH's car club. He's going to look at the cars while I sit by the pool with my book. I baked Outrageous Oreo Brownies for their picnic.
I used Nutter Butters, which gave them a very slightly peanut flavor. I should have thrown in pb chips, too.

Morning everyone.
Heather, if you haven't left yet, have fun with the trip and the diamond shopping!
Emily, a fun and safe trip to you too!
Sue, feel better!
Ellyn, I hear you on the weather. We were in Boston last weekend visiting my brother, and luckily, the rain held off just long enough. His girlfriend was also having her parents visit her from San Francisco for the first time since she moved there last fall, and she was so disappointed that they got there just in time for the rain on Monday and left just before it ended the other day. And she so wanted to convince them that the move was a great decision! :(
Linsley, enjoy the date tonight. I can't wait to hear how the movie is.
Karen, enjoy the ride!
Leigh, happy anniversary to you! The dress looks great. Actually, I'm thinking of something similar to that for my bridesmaids' dresses, so I might have to check it out for myself! :)
Jennifer, congratulations on the acceptance and good luck with the interview! My sister has been thinking of going into special ed too, but I think she wants to try to teach for a few years after she graduates next year before she goes back to school again.
This weekend we'll try to pack up some more boxes since we move in two weeks! We're going to move some of the boxes we've already packed to my parents' just because they take up too much space in our apartment -- I'm starting to get claustrophobic. Tomorrow night we're babysitting two of my cousins. Other than that, I'd like to relax since last weekend my dad kept us plenty busy with his Griswold-like trip to Boston. We still had a great time -- it's one of the reasons you have to love him!
Hello to anyone I missed.

When are you planning on getting married?
AT has quite a few very cute dresses out now ranging in price from $100 to $170. They also have several that come in regular & petite sizes. I liked their halter dresses too but they didn't have any petites, and the two regular size ones I tried either didn't fit or they didn't have my size.

Hi all! Happy Friday!
This should be a nice weekend. The weather has been fabulous most of the week, and it should continue through the weekend. DH and I have a birthday party to attend at a yummy Greek restaurant tonight, and tomorrow we are going to dig in the dirt. He was very industrious last weekend, and built a raised flower bed with flagstones, and installed some lighting that he put on a timer - spotlights that shine into our tree and onto the climbing jasmine. Hard to describe, but it looks really pretty. So hopefully the AM will be spent at a new farmer's market I want to check out, then over to Home Depot to pick out some pretty annuals. Then I have a hair appointment! Yay! No more shaggy head!
Emily, welcome home! when did you get back from Italy? Did you love it??
Sue, feel better! :(
Leigh, have a WONDERFUL anniversary weekend! Where are you going out to dinner?
Jennifer, good luck on your interview at N.Texas!

Morning Rebecca :) I got back last night and spent most of that time uploading photos to my blog (http://emily.pleases.us/blog/042004.html) (shameless plug)
And yes, with out a doubt I loved Italy.
Leigh - wonderful dress. Where are y'all going for dinner?
Kristin - I wish you speed and motivation with the packing, two things I lack most often when I do it. I'm so ready to unpack things for a good long while.
Colleen, premission to leave only if you share the brownies :p Have fun in Vegas, baby, Vegas.
Good morning Linda. Dentist and clothes shopping - you wild and crazy kid ;)
I've just finished off the walk with my mom. Nice spring morning. I think a nap is in order now and maybe a Kill Bill viewing - thanks to Linsley's inspiration!

Leigh, October 23. I'm considering black knee-length dresses, and I'm trying to keep it simple and budget-conscious, especially considering my dad will be paying for my two sisters' dresses, plus my mom's and grandmom's dresses and my brother's tux. I also think the girls would be more likely to wear something like that again than a more formal dress. Is the fabric on your dress too summery?
Emily, me? Speed-packing? HA! I spent all day Wednesday repacking the boxes DF had packed while I was away, just because I like to have everything well-labeled in its own box. (Can you believe he packed his tools with my picture frames in an unlabeled box?!) :p :D Yes, I am an obsessive freak.
Colleen, another fun trip! Enjoy yourselves.

Good morning all! I've been out to work and back already today. *sigh* This spring break thing isn't working the way I thought. ;)
This weekend is all homework. I need 8 lesson plans for this week, 3 for university, I have a term paper to write and 2 portfolios to put together. Thank goodness for wireless internet - I'll be able to relocate my office to my deck and sit in the sun! I'm also hoping to test drive a few vehicles this weekend, if I manage to get my butt out of the house again. Oh, and I need to pick up binders and supplies for portfolios. What is it about those things that education programs seem to love?

Kristin,
Well, I think my dress would be ok for fall, but it's on sale now and when I checked on the website there were only 5 sizes (0, 10, 2P, 4P, 10P). Besides ,it is sleeveless and I imagine it's chilly in PA in October. AT generally offers nice dresses for $125-$180 regular price and they are something that could be worn again. They change they have new styles throughout the year. I'm sure you could find something there. They had about 6 different black dresses last time I was there. :D
I tried the one dress w/the ribbon around the waist, but I found the spot the ribbon fell to be very unflattering (I guess if your stomach were totally flat it would be ok.
I paid $125 for a bridesmaid dress, but its not really something I would wear again (even if I could fit back into it!) *dreaming of having a 24" waist again*. The dresses my bridesmaids wore were less, but I made them and was rembursed for the fabric only.
Emily,
We're going to Canoe (http://www.canoe-atl.com/welcome.html) :D :D
Rebecca,
Sounds like you've got your work cut out for you with all the planting. Enjoy your haircut.

I really liked this linen dress (http://fp.anntaylor.com/@v=0126@/Images/Catalog/ProductImages/XLImages/107947_6600xl.jpg), but the buttons for the halter didn't fit. This is not available as a petite.
I liked this paisley halter dress (http://fp.anntaylor.com/@v=0126@/Images/Catalog/ProductImages/XLImages/107109_6600xl.jpg) better, but the location I went to didn't have it in a petite or a regular 6. The 4 was a tad too tight for me, but the halter tie is adjustable whereas it's not on the above dress. I think this would be nice with a simple shawl or black sweater.
Finally, I didn't try on
this one (http://fp.anntaylor.com/@v=0126@/Images/Catalog/ProductImages/XLImages/104975_6600xl.jpg), but it looks nice and would also be nice with a sweater or shawl if it's too chilly for sleeveless. This comes in regular and petite.
Have fun shopping. :D :D

If you read the reviews Canoe gets very mixed ones, but most of those are in reference to rude wait staff. We'll see. We haven't been before, but I've driven past it and the location is nice.
Vinings is nice and it's really expanding. They've widened Atlanta Road down that way and parts of Smyrna are now called 'Smynings' :D :D :D

Good morning all (I just made it for you East Coasters) :D
The weather forecast here is cold and yucky. They keep forecasting rain...but it hasn't shown up. Want to bet that it will tomorrow? I want the nice warm weather back. I actually had to turn the heat on this morning since my house was a balmy 63 degrees :(
Not much planned for the weekend. Might help a friend get organized for a garage sale tomorrow. Hopefully I'll see Jim for brunch on Saturday and the boys come home Saturday afternoon. I know my oldest is looking forward to it as I received a few emails from him this week. My youngest doesn't talk to me when he is there (I honestly think they aren't allowed to use the phone...or at least heavily discouraged :( and I try not to call so I don't interfere).
Good luck diamond shopping. Sounds like fun.
If you are still here Colleen...drive safe and have a nice weekend.

Hi again. Leigh, I still love the dress.
For you fellow AT shoppers, you know if you get on their email list, you frequently can get 10-15% off coupons mailed to you? I don't seem to get them as often as I used to, but they have come in handy on many occasions!

Have you been able to spend much QT with Jim this week?
tbb113
04-16-2004, 10:09 AM
No, and I'm unrealistically pissed about it as well. I understand that he has even less free time than I do since his ex is in NY and he has full custody of the boys. I don't mind that he chose to spend Monday by himself and Tuesday with a friend. His younger son came home on Wednesday, I had plans on Thursday, no big deal. His younger son leaves for a weekend trip today around 2pm (I know because my son did the same trip last year). He is choosing to go out with his business partner to celebrate getting some much needed capital for the business. Okay...I understand (not really). But what is PISSING me off is that he won't commit and put me on the calendar for Saturday either. Now granted is ex is a flake and hasn't told their son when he is returning from NY. But...we had this problem in the past. I don't expect him to change his life for me...and I realize that you need private time. But I need to feel important too...not an obligation that can be squeezed in if time permits. So...I will either communicate this in an email or when I see him on Saturday.
Aren't you sorry you asked :)

Karen, have a good weekend.
Emily, enjoy the film, we re-watched 1 last night so we would remember everything, can't wait!
Leigh, I REALLY like that halter dress, how sexy is that!
Kristin, I think that is a very good idea for your bridesmaids dresses. I wish I had done something like that but with a pregnant matron of honor and a wedding in December (and knowing very little about wedding stuff as I was the first) I ended up with dresses I'm sure no one will ever wear again. At least they were cheap. Have you decided where your reception is going to be yet?

Hi all!
Haven't read through yet, but Tyra, I hear you on the male priority issue. Ugh, they're frustrating! And you deserve to be a priority!
Diamond shopping???? yippee! Job interviews??? woo-hoo!
Hi to all - need to go back and read!
My latest - just got back from an interview with a local food maker - went pretty well I think, found out I'm the only one they've talked with so far, and they want me to ponder the position and we'll talk Tuesday morning. Have a different job interview at 8 am Tuesday and am talking with another company about setting up an interview - so many irons in the fire!
Right now I'm baking Peanut Butter Dog Biscuits - a friend's dog was hit by a car and both hips are broken (poor puppy!) so I'm making a batch for him as well as one for Bosco. :)
Man #1 (remember way back to the end of February) is off the books officially. :( Was supposed to attend a crawdad boil 2 weeks ago with me on a Friday. Said he'd call on his way from work. 7:30 rolls around, no call and the crawdaddies are going fast, so I call him. He's still at work, not going to make it. I was a bit put out by the fact that he hadn't bothered to call. He said let's do something tomorrow afternoon, I said, well, I have plans but I'll call you when I get done. Called him, left message, never heard back. pbbbbbbbt. I at least deserve a phone call if you ain't going to make it pal!!!
tbb113
04-16-2004, 11:51 AM
Sorry to hear about Man #1 ... but I'm glad I'm not the only one with men problems ;) You are right...you deserve phone calls. I sometimes think that men are just not wired the same as women and common courtesy just doesn't enter their minds.
I'm trying hard to raise my sons with common sense, courtesy and manners. Only time will prove if it sinks in :D
So...does that mean you are back to speed dating?
Also, what type of job exactly are you looking for? Its nice that you have so many interviews. I'm sure that one of them will be the perfect job for you.

I'm back :) Went to a Just For Feet that is closing so my mom could get new shoes for our trip (which honestly I am confused about, because she has tons of shoes that she doesn't wear already, but I guess any excuse for new shoes, right?) and speaking of, I ended up with a pair of retro style Sketchers that were only $13!
I think a Kill Bill matinee is out for me as I'm meeting my sister at 5. Oh, well, my time is better spent with her.
At some point, I'm sure I'll be adding to the guy saga as I have two that I'm talking to pretty regularly via email back in the Bay Area, but really that's the extent of the details at this point...
Kristin - so sorry to hear about your friends puppy :(

Hi Tyra! Sorry to hear about the man frusterations....
Well, I had a painful morning. Hour in the Dentist chair followed by almost two hours in the mens suit store. Uggh. Anyway, does anyone know if you can machine wash and dry a 100% cotton dress shirt? I get it home and there seems to be no washing instructions:rolleyes:

You should be able to wash and dry (and iron) the shirt. It will shrink though if it isn't pre-washed cotton (and then it could still shrink a little). Since I wouldn't want to IRON the shirt...I would pay to have it laundered or dry cleaned.
Sorry to hear about the dentist. I went last month and a cavity showed up on the x-ray. Unfortunately the insurance wants to pay for a filling and the dentist thinks I need a crown  So...I have a call into the dentist's office to see what the next step is. Its a HUGE price difference. The filling will cost me about $78.00, a crown will cost me about $755 since I'm guessing the insurance is going to pay their half (less my $50.00 deductible). Hopefully it will get taken care of because the gum surgery that I had done in December was barely covered because I hit my maximum for the year because of a crown last year (and I didn't wait for the pre-authorization) so I didn't schedule it for January. I HATE going to the dentist and I think I hate the insurance company even more.

Linda,
My vote is for the nap! I hope the rest of your day is better. BTW, DH has a dress shirt for his suit and it's machine washable. Gentle cycle, tumble dry low. If nothing else you can hang it to dry.
Well ladies, it's just about time for me to go. Have a nice weekend. I'll try to get a picture & post a review of dinner out.
Linsley,
I really liked the halter dress too, I just wish they'd had my size!!!:(

LOL! *I* wouldn't iron the shirt!! :D :D
That's too bad about the insurance. I had two crown done several years ago and the dentist took picture of the tops of my teeth just to make sure the insurance would agree to pay for the crowns. They were on different sides of my mouth so I had two appointments around Christmas as I only wanted to pay the deductable once.
That's expensive for a crown, but then again it's been a while since I had one. Mine were $560 each.

Thanks for the tips ladies. I threw it in on the colors cycle -warm wash, cold rinse. at least now he has something to wear should he choose to take me ta fancy-schmancy restaurant:D
Tyra, ouch. Rob is in the middle of finishing a crown-he has the temporary one in now. all his insurance is goen now for the year. I just had the 6 month cleaning and check-up, but they tell me they want to extract another wisdom tooth and redo my front tooth which is 3/4 fake.
Have a good evening leigh.:) Can't wait to hear the reviews.

The worst of it was that the cavity hadn't shown in previous x-rays...so I don't even have money put in my 125(S) to cover it. :(
And then I wonder why its so hard to save money ... lately its all been going into my mouth. The bright side is that pretty soon all my back teeth will be gold crowns. I guess at that point I won't need more major dental work :D
So...is there a reason for the fancy-shmancy restaurant? A belated birthday dinner?

Back again. Just finished losing by 4 points in Scrabble with my mom. Might go outside to pot some plants and enjoy the day more. Oh, except I'm supposed to meet my sister in 10 minutes. Sh!t, out the door I go....
By ladies, have a great weekend!

Bye Emily. Have fun with your sister.
So Linda...what do the new shoes look like?
Tyra- I am the queen of dental procedures. I have to have a new crown in the fall on a tooth that alresdy had a crown and a root canal. (you don't what to hear about it). Anyway the full cost of the crown is about $800.00 CDN- around 650.00 USD. I would definately check that quote out.

Just got back from the dog park. Poor Bosco - it's hot being a dark brown dog on a sunny day. :D He gets so tired.
KristinK - if you're still here - my cousin just had us all get black dresses - any style we liked. It was great, everyone looked good and was happy with their choice. My friend did the same thing, except in dark green. So you might just pick a color, send everyone a sample, and let them deal with it themselves. :)
tyra - thank you for properly training your boys!
Kayaksoup - sorry about the dentist! I haven't been in 2 years  - no dental coverage. Although I did find out the local hygenist program will treat you for cheap if you let them parctice on you. It's just a big time commitment - 3 hours, 3 times over 6 weeks.
No speed dating again yet, although I just heard on the radio about a gourmet singles group starting up here in Austin. The first event is Sat night at the 4 Seasons hotel, but I have to work. :( But I'm going to get on their email list asap. Also found out about an 8 minute dating program at one of my favorite pubs (but again, have to work). so those are both in the loop - once I get a full-time job locked down I'll be able to stop this hourly worker schedule!
Jobs - I'm a people manager. :) Coaching, developing, motivating - that's my gig. The threads on motivation/pay lately have been very interesting to watch. Also, I want to work with food. All my past work experience is in packaging - paper, wine, etc. So I'm looking at food-related stuff. This includes grocery store retail management - hence the gig as a checkout girl so that I know what it's like. It'll probably be good material for making my millions writing management books. :)

Thats the normal quote here. All of my crowns have been that expensive and the insurance pays for it. I don't know why they are refuting this one. The EOD says they think a 2 surface filling will sufice based on the their review. I'll need to follow up with my dentist's office next week since the person I need to talk with was on vacation until Tuesday.
Don't tell me about new crowns...my fillings lasted almost twenty five years. I expect the same from my crowns. :D I do realize that new decay could happen...but it better not!

The new shoes are black leather, roundish toe, kittenish heel, about two inches, slim. They look good in a size 10, which is important, because not all shoes do. And I got them for 99 regularily 170! I looked and looked for a pic online, but i couldn't find one. If I had a digital camera...
I also bought hot pink beaded flat slides. because I couldn't resist.;)

Sound great. I decide the other day that I need a pair of black shoes with a slight heel myself. Saw a pair at Macys on Monday night but I wasn't in the mood to try them on (actually they are what made me decide I need a pair). Maybe I'll go back tonight and see if they are still there and on sale.
I sympathize with you on your shoe size. I have the opposite problem with clothes. Many things look good if you are tall...but not when you are 5'3".
Kayaksoup
04-16-2004, 03:27 PM
Tyra, I am 5'3". with size 10 feet:rolleyes:
Something went wrong somewhere along the line. My Dad is 6'3", my mom is 5'. So I got his feet and her height.:p
This creates a problem in that I love Vintage shoes (40's 50's) but do NOT have the feet for them.

That is bizarre. I only wear a 7 and that took both pregnancys to acheive. Before than I was a 6 1/2 narrow. Now I'm a 7 regular and shoe shopping is SO much easier. :D
Kayaksoup
04-16-2004, 03:53 PM
Thank you, yes it is bizarre:o :D
Anyway, i found something similar shape to my shoes. They are just a softer leather, with a delicate stitching around the top of teh shoe that ends in a tiny bow at the heel

Tyra, I'm still here, but not for long.
Jeesh. I just spent almost an hour on the phone with one of the only two photographers in our area that are still available for our wedding date. Seriously, I called almost 20. :(
At least we got the church and the reception place (Linsley -- The Patio, the mansion on my high school campus). And the caterer (since it's the only one used by the site). And the band (since my dad pulled in a favor so that we could actually afford one!). I have to keep my fingers crossed the next couple of weeks as I try to pull everything else together. Whoever said wedding planning is fun was WRONG. I should elope...
But for now, I'm just gonna get out of here. Happy weekend all. To my fellow East Coasters (if anyone's still here), enjoy the great weather! :)

Sorry to hear that you are having trouble locating a photographer. I got lucky when I planned my wedding....my mother did the whole thing since she lived where the wedding was going to be (in LA area) and I was up here. Fortunately our tastes are similiar :D
Glad you are going with The Patio. It looked amazing when you first posted about it.
Have a nice weekend.

Thanks for the welcome. This weekend we are concentrating on putting down new flooring in our bedroom. Tonight we finish the last of the scraping of the subfloor, and then its gluing and nailing. We're putting in natural-colored bamboo. I can't wait til its done!
How about you? I can't remember, what did you decide about your DS getting a job and the camp?
tbb113
04-16-2004, 04:34 PM
No real plans. I might go help a friend get ready for a garage sale tonight (sale is tomorrow). I'm hoping to go out with the man I'm dating tomorrow for brunch...but as of now, I haven't heard from him confirming/breaking the plans :( My kids get home tomorrow night from a week at their father so it will be a regular Sunday.
I haven't made any final decision regarding my older son and camp. He first needs to make sure he can sign up for the team (I don't think he checked before school got out). Assuming he can...and he still wants too (he has changed his mind before) I will allow him to do it. If he starts looking for a job now, he should be able to line one up for the summer. If he can't find one, maybe he and his grandfather can do some real bonding between my mother's probable chemo treatments.
Your floor sounds interesting. I know that they make bamboo flooring...I just haven't seen it yet and all I can picture is the bamboo rods. I know it can't look like that...you would never be able to walk on it. And I know it doesn't look like the bamboo mats you buy for the beach.

Sorry about the male troubles. That's so frustrating! Sometimes they just have no clue. What will you do if he doesn't call? I think I read you plan to tell him how you feel?
I'm sorry to hear about your mom. I think I missed that before. I will keep her and your family in my thoughts. :(
My flooring sounds so trivial now compared to what you are going through! Basically, though, it looks like regular wood. Here's a link to what we are putting down: http://ifloor.com/item_295368 . I like it because I wasn't killing a beautiful old tree just so I can walk on it (bamboo grows several inches in a day so I felt better!! :D ) and we got a good price.
I'm numb from sitting here all day. I work at home on Fridays so I have been editing this same article since 630 am! I guess I don't need to mention that it is written poorly and boring to boot!

Thanks for the thoughts about my mom. She is having more lymph nodes removed at the end of the month and then after all of test results come back, the oncologist will determine the course of action (just chemo, combo chemo/radiation, ??). Fortunately her spirits are great so if its a question of mind over body...she will come out of this just fine :)
The man is an old boyfriend. We stopped seeing each other about 5 years ago and have stayed in touch all this time. We decided to try again. So, like I said, this is not a new issue with me. But I want to bring it to his attention before I stew about it and let it bother me. Like I said...I'm not asking to be put as a first priority, just a priority period.
The floor looks great and from what I understand about bamboo is that it wears great too. Hope you like it when its all done.
What kind of article are you editing? It must be long to be taking you all day. Hopefully the author accepts corrections well ;)

Crylkat, welcome to Friday afternoons. Diversions are good. That's what I am :p .
Tyra, I was going to mention on your thread, by the time I was 15, I was good on my own at home. Summer jobs and other activities took up most of my time. I hope your son finds something that works for all of you. Glad to hear your mother is still doing well as far as keeping her spirits up.
I think you need to clear up the priority issues with Jim(that is his name, right). You don't need anymore frusterations right now.

Good news about your mom's spirits! I know when my grandma was in for kidney cancer and they removed it, the doctors weren't sure if she would come through--but since she had lots of support and a good frame of mind, she pulled through great and is going strong.
As for the article, its about 8k words. Its on wireless networks. Its very technical so I'm wading through it. The author seems ok so far. I hope he doesn't change his spots--there have been a few authors who have threatened to sue when their stuff has been changed!! Many academics can be very touchy because their prose is perfect.

I know that Michael will be okay at home by himself. Its just that idle minds can get into lots of trouble (drugs, drinking, sex). So far he hasn't shown that those are paths he wants to go down...but I do worry. We live in a very affluent neighborhood and I know that having money available makes all of those things likely. If I worked a flexible schedule where he wouldn't know when I would be home...it would cut the temptation even more. I know from personal teenage experiences :) Loved the hockey games...we knew EXACTLY how long my parents would be out ;)
So Linda, among all your other talents, you make purses too? Are they quilted bags?

It must be hard to edit technical articles. If the subject matter isn't familiar to you...it must be boring as well. But a well written article is a joy to read...so you editors must do good jobs

I haven't tried quilted bags before.
Its been a while since I made a purse. This one is going to be to go with my new slides, so I am looking at a tote style bag. Short handles. Beaded pattern to match my sandles. Lined.
And I never knew when my parents would be home. maybe that is what kept me honest;) actually, I wasn't home that much. i worked fulltime in the summer.
tbb113
04-16-2004, 05:34 PM
So the fabric is for the lining? Maybe when its done you'll post a picture.
I have come home early occasionally from work and nothing has been amiss in the house. A matter of fact, I complimented all the kids on how well behaved and trustworthy they all are. My liquor is never touched, house is relatively clean, they even bake cookies sometimes :)
In Illinois, most places wouldn't hire you until you were 16. I didn't go to camp...but my mother was home during the summer. I think its just the idea that bothers me...not him actually doing it.

Does sound like fun. In the early 80's I had a bright pink plastic briefcase (its original function was to hold cassette tapes). I felt like a Barbie doll with it...but as I said, I didn't want a professional bag...and I didn't need one either. It was great in the rain...could just wipe it dry :D

I am another queen of dental work. :( I just had a crown and a filling replaced and it was about $1,200. FOrtunately, my insurance pays 80% of this. I'm having the identical thing done on the other side in a month. I've also had 3 gum grafts, a crown lenghtening, and numerous other things. My parents had to hospitalize me when I got permanent teeth in order to cap the back ones because they were too brittle. I wouldn't let the dentist do it. :) It's been theorized that all my teeth/gum problems were caused by a high fever when I had chicken pox at 18 mths.
