View Full Version : How was your weekend?
We have had beautiful weather here and everyone seems to be out gardening. We have a rock garden and no lawn (yipee!!!) so a couple of hours a week is all it takes to keep things looking nice. After mowing 1/2 acre lawns for years I love not having grass to deal with!
We painted the bedrooms in our suite as new girls are moving in, watched the Canucks eek out a win, went for a run and just generally hung around the house.
Tonight we are having a Turkey Chili recipe made in the Slow Cooker (WW recipe). Tonight- a long soak in the tub and some boob tube watching.
What have you all been up to??
Oh yeah, I made a walnut coffee cake from the Joy of Cooking as well. Keep nibbling on it- must put out of sight.:)

Hi Maureen! *waving* Got a lot done here, but still not enough! I was gone last weekend (was in Boston for 6 days) and came back to too much work to do! It's Trudi's "time of the semester when I freak out" time, and this semester will be no exception! But, I made good progress on my teaching portfolio, did some research, did laundry, and just generally organised things for the next 2 weeks. Went for a run last night (excuse me? Trudi doesn't run! But I needed it last night). Also watched a wee little bit of hockey. ;) Tomorrow is job fair, so I need to iron my suit and put the finishing touches on my CV. 4 days left of student teaching!!!! Guess who will be drinking come Friday!!!!!

Hi Kima,
We have had an amazing weekend here in Northern Virginia, it is 7 pm and still about 90 degrees! We don't have our air conditioning on yet so I am hibernating downstairs in the office where it is noticebly cooler (funny how I was always upstairs during the winter). I have enjoyed the sun after way too much rain and was able to get some things done around the house that I have been putting off. The best part is that I have tomorrow off too so I just get to relax tonight, no Sunday night blues!
Tomorrow will be yard work outside to get some sun on my very white skin! (I know its bad, but at least I'm not going to the tanning salon anymore :o )
Back to my glass of wine.......

I'm tired.
DBF and I went for a LONG bike ride Saturday. It was only his 3rd or 4th time on his bike. We drove to a place W. of Ft. Worth (just over an hour for us)and did a 40 mile bike ride. It was a great ride-beautiful country, but I'm still tired. Since we got a late start, that was pretty much the day yesterday.
Today was church, lunch, errands, and I just finished planting 9 liriope to replace some that died from last year. I trimmed the rest of it, picked up the trimmings, and cleaned the grill. Now I still have to change a shower head (wish me luck) and reheat some leftovers.
Tonight I also have to get everything together for an 'interview' with the program head of the Special Ed teaching cert. program tomorrow, and things together for a camp planning meeting tomorrow night. And I'll actually go to work in between. :)
Wow Robyn- 90 degrees??? It rarely ever gets that hot here! But I think you guys have had a wet year so far so this must be a nice change! Glad you stopped going to the tanning salon- Prevention mag has a good article on the dangers of tanning and the lies salons tell their clients.:(
Jennifer- I am tired just reading about your weekend! You young people!;)
badunnin- My student teaching days are over 20 years ago but I well remember all the hard work. It is worth in the end though I hate to tell you that you only use a fraction of what you learn when you get in a real classroom (I imagine you have already figured that out!)
Good luck at the job fair- I know you'll knock them dead!

90 degrees! Wow!
Weather was decent here this weekend. Sun breaks, but pretty cool temperatures. Great for being out in the yard but, alas, that was not to be.
Yesterday we had a high speed cable modem installed. Yay!!! I'm loving it, but now I'm sure I'll spend even more time online than before. After that, DH and I ran some errands and went out to dinner. Things went downhill after that. DH manages a branch of a rental car company (we work for the same company). One of his renters has decided to keep the rental car for herself. He and his assistant manager were out till 2am last night trying to track this person down. She owes hundreds of dollars and at this point they are going to have to report the car stolen. Bad situation for everyone involved (DH will lose a big chunk of money if she doesn't end up bringing the car back on her own).
Needless to say, DH slept in pretty late this morning. Today has been pretty relaxing though in spite of his work issues. Watching NBA playoff games, cleaning house, organizing all the wedding planning stuff we no longer need, putting away gifts, menu planning and spending a lot of time online. :) Barbecue Beef Sandwiches from Jan/Feb on the menu for tonight...smells so good.
Hope everyone had a good weekend!
Sounds like everyone had a great weekend, as did we!
I got more (new) sinus meds on Friday and felt like a new person by yesterday morning. Spent the day outside, did some shopping, took several walks around the block. Today was church and not much else cause the baby was not feeling well (I think teething). We still hung outside much of the day and enjoyed the 80 degree temps. Gotta love this weather at this time of the year! :)

Hi, Maureen! For once, I don't have to feel jealous -- we're having lovely weather too! Trudi, you've been busy. Good luck at the job fair. (Student teaching -- what a horror. My dad studied to be a teacher for awhile, but didn't make it through the student teacher part.) Jennifer, that sounds like a great ride.
I'm prepping for my bodybuilding show next weekend, is what I'm doing. Lots of routine practice, lifting and cardio, all on protein and fibrous carbs. Yep, feel like litterbox scoopin's right now.
Got next week off, so that my brain can melt down in private (and I can stain myself brown, and live next to a bathroom for all the water I drink every day). Got a few work projects to do, but I can do them at home, in peace and quiet, without the constant natternatter gigglegiggle of an office full of wimmin and their noxious Lite'n'Eezy Hits radio. Lovely. It will get done, and I am happy, and I don't even care that I'll be working on what is going on my time-entry as "vacation". How I loathe an open-plan office.
Oh, and sleepin'. Doing lots of that, I'm so embarrassed. Having little afternoon naps. I read Eudora Welty's Delta Wedding today. I've never read any Welty before. I think I liked it, but I'm not quite sure where she took me, and what I was supposed to see...
I didn't know you were into bodybuilding Compass Rose- any chance you could post a picture???
(forgive me if that's too personal):)
They showed Toronto today on TV and it was pouring rain (and I think Natasha has T storms where she is). Glad you got nice weather where you are.
Glad the sinus meds are working Sue- sinus problems suck!!!
Janet- after you get high speed internet there is no going back! Does that lady really think she'd get away with keeping the rental car???

Well, I'm glad you all had nice weather. Its been unseasonably COLD here (makes up for the unseasonably nice March). I have the heat on since it is only in the low 60's and the sun never came out ... matter of fact it even drizzled :(
The good part of the weekend was that I had brunch with my male friend and the boys came home after spending the week at their father's house. Sure is nice to have them back :)
We had lovely weather all weekend, for which I was extremely grateful. DS was on his first backpacking trip and it was cold and poured last weekend.
Since I mentioned DS first, he got back in one piece and with a smile on his face. They made the full 11 mile hike and he loved today's part of the trail. No blisters, no disasters, backpack worked well, etc.
DS2 had a soccer game Saturday. He didn't score this time, but their was only one goal in the last minute of the game - and his team won! He also planted some flowers and helped DH and I working in the yard today. Worked on a couple of scout achievements too.
Last night, we met a couple of new CL friends IRL. We're looking forward to getting together again.
DH started the weekend early with a 4 am duty at the area flea market (happens twice a year and he always does the early shift). After soccer team pictures, DH and I worked in the yard a bit yesterday and today, so most of what we have planned for now is in the ground. I have a few impatients to fill in the spots in my shade garden left. It feels good to see everything growing and blooming again.
BIG item this afternoon was getting the sleeper sofa out of our gameroom and down the stairs. We tried to donate it, but the folks who came couldn't get it out of the room. Got a cracked stail rail trying, so we took the sleeper part out and moved it in pieces. Now I can work on getting the new furniture arrangement settled. I'm tired and in need of some hand lotion. :D

Sure I can post pictures. A.'s bringing the digicam... Look for 'em after the 24th.
I don't feel very bodybuilderish most moments; generally I look into mirrors and think "Augh! I am an idiot!" :D But I'm in too deep to back out now. :p
At least I like my routine. (I did go with the Propellorheads, Anna, if y'see this thread.)

I too had a nice weekend! Amazed that Va was actually warmer than here in Arizona! Today's high was only 76 (or so I'm told) and the rest of the week looks pretty good no 90's until the end of the week.
I was busy this weekend getting ready to move into the new house, and getting last minute money for the house! I was suppose to close last Wednesday however the loan company didn't come through in time so now closing is this Wednesday. (keeping my fingers and toes crossed). This is my last weekend here in the apt and it feels kind of strange.
I went to church this morning, actually made it to the early service and found everything set up outside. A nice change.
Big week at school this week-the students are taking the AIMS test and this year the whole school is taking it. (several grades are field testing) I have to get through the week with part of the mind focused on school and the other firmly focused on the house.
Tonight I'm going to iron for the week and relax knowing that I finished a huge chore.

DH is out of town, so it has been a BUSY weekend; I feel like I've spent two days planning my life around when the dogs will need to go out!
Yesterday I picked up a baby shower gift (friends adopting from Russia), and looked at about 6 houses with the realtor. Two are possibilities.
This moring I went to church and came home to get some cleaning done. I made stir-fried tofu, mushrooms, and broccoli for dinner (I love making all the "DH hates it" stuff when he's out of town!) and headed over to a friend's house to watch The Simpsons.

I had a nice weekend. It was very rainy for most of the day yesterday, so I got some homework done and went to the gym. Rather mundane tasks, but they needed to get done.... Last night my BF and I just hung out as his house and watched a movie and played card games. I think we are the wildest college students out there! ;) lol Basketball season is over for him now, so he has a bit more free time now (they still have individual work outs, but it is significantly less than during the season). Today, I went to yoga and then out to lunch with my mom....same as every Sunday! I came home and did some more homework (I'm a bit behind, can you tell?) and then went out to dinner with the extended family. We went to our golf club, so I played a couple of holes with my dad and cousin before we ate. I am terrible!! I think I am going to start practicing more seriously, because I would really like to get to the point where I can play decently. :)
Anyways, it's back to the grind tomorrow. Sounds like everyone had a pretty good weekend though--hope you all have a great week!

We went to Vegas for a Honda Del Sol and CRX meet. It was fun, but I'm very tired. We didn't have any outstanding eating experiences, but I did enjoy: a vanilla coke at Peggy Sue's in Barstow, Hawaiian Steak, garlic potatoes, and awesome root beer (but I don't recommend the carrot cake) at Gordon Biersch, candy samples from the Helen Grace chocolate factory (pretty cheesy tour), and the buffet at the Orleans which was very middle-of-the-road in both price and quality.
One of the highlights of the weekend was a party in a room at the Luxor. That place seems like it was built by Escher (the artist, not the post-er). The room was on the 28th floor of the pyramid, and my body kept tilting away from the walls, until I almost fell over (and I don't drink!).
I know I'm tired when, (at the end of the weekend) someone said, "what is that?" about DH's Star Wars artcar, and I responded, "It's a car."

Great weekend here. DH and I got to spend some time together for once, which is rare. I bought some tomato plants and some cucumber seeds and worked on the garden. It's my very first garden in my house so I'm pumped. Then DH and I actually went on a DATE!!! Flashback to 6 years ago. But then on the way home we got stopped because a parade was going by. It was Ann Arbor and they were doing a "Take Back the Night" rally. I'd never seen one in real life. IT was really interesting.
Today I worked. Which was no big deal because we weren't busy. So it wasn't really work as much as waiting 5 hours to go back home.:D
