It's school vacation week here in Massachusetts, and we are just back from our long-awaited trip to Arizona. It was awesome! I am so envious of all of you who live out there. We visited Phoenix and Sedona and also took the train from Williams to the Grand Canyon. It was simply a very memorable family vacation and I thank all of you who helped me with tips way back in Sept./Oct. Martha

I'm glad you had a good time! I love living here. I hope you had beautiful weather for your trip. Luckily, it hasn't gotten smoking hot just yet. ;)

Glad to hear you had a great time- aren't the rocks gorgeous there? And the desert is a completely different world from the green of the East Coast.

I agree, Music Mom! And you were one of the ones who told me about the wonders of Sedona. It was awesome. Everything looks so drab here compared to all that color.
And, Aggie, the weather was wonderful.

I'm glad you enjoyed the Valley of the Sun . We have had some beautiful spring wheather the last couple weeks. The desert is especially "flowery" this time of the year. What did you do in Sedona?

I'm glad you had a good time.
What was your favorite thing you did in Phoenix?
My family is coming in May and although I have an itinary for them I like to hear what others enjoy.

To answer your questions, in Sedona we visited Slide Rock State Park, which was breathtaking. The kids enjoyed climbing the rocks, but it was too cold that day to go in the water there. I would have liked to check out Tlapuepaque but the family was in a hurry to get back to Phoenix. In Phoenix, all we did was hang out at our resort, the Pointe South Mountain Resort. They had a water park with 3 water slides, a wave pool, a lazy river and a hot tub. Needless to say, the kids didn't want any other diversions. We only had one full day in Phoenix, plus a few hours the day we arrived and the day before we left. I highly recommend the resort, BTW. (www.pointesouthmtn.com)

Martha,
Sounds like a wonderful trip! I've never been to AZ, but have heard that Sedona is beautiful. My in-laws are taking my boys (11 & 13) out West for two weeks this summer. They're going to Grand Canyon, Mt. Rushmore, Yellowstone and more! I'll be working ... but enjoying a quiet house. :D

Sounds like a great trip. I'd love to go to Arizona sometime.
Eva, how close are you to the Phoenician? There's a possibility of my getting there yet this year.

Pretty darn close! What a gorgeous resort. I drove past it the other night shuttling some folks between their resort (Biltmore) and my boss's house for a work function. It's not very far from where I work. I'd love to see you!!! :D
Martha, I'm glad you liked the Pointe South Mountain. I have heard nice things about it. In fact, I have a work thing there next week. I also know the head chef at the restaurant there, I think it's Latitude 30? He is engaged to one of my coworkers.
