Hey Gail,
Are ya talkin' to me? http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif I haven't yet posted anything about all the great recommendations everyone gave me about SoCal - but only 'cause I haven't made it there yet! I will be sure to post any feedback as soon as I have some...I wish I could go now!!
Have a great day, everyone.

Me too gail - my trip isn't until next summer - but since it's the high season in Napa, we wanted to make plans early. I'll let you know after I go! Thanks again for all of the advice!
Hey now.
This isn't some underhanded way of trying to ask for thanks. If I wanted thanks, I'd go for something subtle, like begging on bended knee and whining a lot. (Insert Mamasue graphic of pathetic groveling figure) To be truthful, I haven't even participated in some of these advice threads... I mean, there are plenty of places I haven't been. (Yet.) http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/tongue.gif However, I do recall some members asked for suggestions during the summer and holidays, and if they're still around, I think we'd all benefit from a little brain-picking...

Gail,
I know you didn't mean it that way - but I did want to acknowledge all the good advice I'd gotten from everyone so far (yes, even though I haven't seen the places for myself I know it's good advice http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif).
I'm just glad you started this thread because now I will have to force myself to take those vacations sooner rather than later...right? Hey, works for me! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/tongue.gif
Have a great night.

Well Gail - it had to be you to 'bring' us out! Went to Son's wedding in Negril, Jamaica last month (Jan 13) it was amazing. First time to Negril and definitely want to live there!!!!!!!
We did an all-inclusive, but visited 3 other resorts which were wonderful. We stayed at Point Village, my one daughter stayed at Swept Away and my son (the one who got married) was at Sandals - and I can honestly say that they were all fantastic - think 'ours' had a better Jamaician 'flavor' - the food was incredible at all 3. Rick's Cafe and the sunset from there was beautiful (caught the same one at our place). The beaches in Negril are arrestingly beautiful - which I am sure many of you know.
We are off to Myrtle Beach next month - go each year - any comments on your favorite 'spots' there?
Elaine
FEEDBACK!!!
I'd be happy to...
My DH and I went to San Francisco over New Years (I posted a request for restaurants and sights). We've been to SFO before and have favorite spots but...thought I'd throw out the question. We did eat at Postrio in Union Square upon the BB's suggestion. THE BEST, I had the crusted salmon as recommended THE BEST!!! We stopped at the Buena Vista Cafe for breakfast which was very good (try the Irish coffee!).
We already were staying down at Fisherman's Wharf so didn't use any of the accommodation suggestions.
I do want to rant and rave about our NEW YEARS EVE (morning) celebration though. We decided to take a hot air balloon ride down Napa valley (wanted to do something we couldn't do at home-in Kansas). We made reservations with Above the West Hot Air Ballooning Company in Yountville. We drove the entire way in the fog. We met at Vintage 1870 (a wonderful place) and had absolutely the most beautiful ride ever. Our pilot Donna was perfect...the fog was still in the majority of the valley making the sights more than awesome, especially with the sun coming up. It was the best 1 1/2 hour balloon ride we've ever had.
After that we toured the Robert Mondavi winery - another plus! GOOD wine too. I'm pleased to find it here in Kansas.
Needless to say we had a wonderful trip and thanks to all for your recommendations!
Sorry I didn't respond sooner!! CJM

I did actually post a follow-up on the "ISO London Restaurants" thread, but if any of you missed it, I'll summarize. We had a quick three days there. Went to Khan's for Indian food. We loved Wagamama's so much that we went there two days in a row! I decided to be adventurous in my eating (not my norm) and it definitely paid off. I am now in love with Indian food. Thanks for the recommendations.
In the months since I've been around, quite a few people have asked for advice as to restaurants, hotels, wineries, and other vacation sites. And while I'm certainly always happy to make suggestions, I can't help thinking it would be nice to hear from these folks after those trips to let us know what they enjoyed. Maybe it's the dormant travel agent in me, but I'd kinda like to know... after Jeanne or CJM went on their vacations, for example, what restaurants or inns did they love? Spread the wealth a little, so we can better inform the next group of travelers, that sort of thing...
Any takers?
