View Full Version : choc fondue/creme brulee???
My husband and I are enjoying V. Day with our 2 small sons. I have red & white heart shaped pasta and will serve that w/ steamed brocc. Dessert is my big ??. My husband loves creme brulee and I would love to make it for him, however, I have no blow torch (I guess a hair dryer won't do) and no ramekins! Plus, I'll have very little time, as I will have worked all day on Wed. Is there a simple facimile of creme brulee? Also thought the kids would like to dip strawberries in choc. sauce, but I have no fondue pot nor double broiler! Am I dreaming or can I pull any of this off...? Thanks in advance, Amy in Raleigh

Hey Amy-
Can't help you with the creme brulee, but have a couple easy suggestions for the chocolate. A simple double boiler can be made by placing a bowl (metal or glass) over a pot of simmering water. Make sure the water does not touch the bowl. Also, if you stir frequently, it is really easy to melt chocolate in the microwave. Hope this helps, Gina

Hey, Amy!
CL actually had a recipe for creme brulee in their recent issue....if you do a search using the "search" function in the top right corner for creme brulee, you'll come across some threads discussing it.
By the way, I used to live in Chapel Hill; I love Raleigh!
