So, did everyone watch? What did you think? I went to sleep at about 10:10 so I missed the big surprise, but I got an inkling of it from the website. Can anyone enlighten me further?

I watched it. I didn't think I'd make it through all 3 hours, but I did. :)

Started off with Jeff making his entrance, then asking for a few words from Rob and Amber before he read the votes. Rob ended up proposing to Amber. (She accepted). Jeff then read the votes and Amber won by one vote.

They talked to the other contestants for a bit, then Jeff announced that they had a vehicle (some kind of SUV, I think?) and Amber was to award it to whomever she felt deserved it. She gave it to Shi Ann, since she felt her vote was the swing vote.

The big twist they kept promoting was that another contestant will be awarded $1 million. You can go online to cbs.com and cast your vote - the winner will be decided based on the online and text votes, and will be announced on another show Thursday night. On Thursdays's show they'll give away that $1 million, plus show previews of the next season's show.

I didn't want Rob or Amber to win, but if I had to make a choice, I would have picked Amber. Guess it really doesn't matter now since the money will stay in the family. Hope she gets him to sign a prenup. ;) And what was with her "I Love Rob" tshirt? Is she in seventh grade??

Some of the other highlights they mentioned- Jenna (the single mom) got married last weekend. Sue had an extreme makeover done for some new show. Ethan and Jenna M. are still an item. Richard found true love when he went on a trip after he was voted off. Jerri left the live show after she got booed. And Colby was looking as hot as ever.

Sue, Thank you so much for that recap! I saw Rob's proposal and Amber winning the $1 million, but that was it.

I can't believe Jerri got booed off the stage! That's a riot. I think I might vote for Rupert for the next $1 million. How about you?

I voted for Rupert. Was able to do it twice this AM. Will probably vote a couple more times for him.

IMO, Jenna confirmed her smartness when she voted Rupert off  She DESERVED to lose.

I also have to add, I loved it how Lex was called out about calling it unfair about getting voted out, yet doing it to others :)

PS. You can vote multiple times. I keep hitting back, and it is letting me vote. GO RUPERT!

I voted for Rupert this morning, too.

I was also astounded when Jenna voted Rupert off instead of Rob. What the heck was she thinking? If she had kept Rupert, then even if she had lost the immunity challenge, Rupert may very well have won it and he would have taken her with him. By keeping Rob, she was doomed.

Can you believe DH and I both forgot this was on. We turned it on just in time to see Jeff count the votes.

I know I'm in the minority, but I wanted Rob to win. I think he dominated the game. He out-witted, out-played, and out-lasted everyone, IMHO. :)

I just voted for Rudy. He announced on the Early Show that he will donate half of it to those who have lost their loved ones in Iraq. That right there deserves the vote!!!

Well, I'll agree with you, Linda. He dominated most of the challenges, and everyone knew they could go further if they sided with him. I'm sure he was incredibly disappointed to lose to Amber, no matter how much he loves her and gets to enjoy the money too.

In a tie situation, the four of them would have to pick stones from a bag. Whoever picked the purple stone would be the next cast-off, so rather than putting herself at risk, she voted against Rupert.

I completely agree with you! As does my DH.

He played the game. Everyone knows going in they will be lied too, manipulated and backstabbed. He did it well! :p

Oh, and I hope Rupert wins the million dollars! That guy is just a sweetheart!

Thanks. I kept hearing them talk about a purple stone, but didn't know what it was about.

However :) I still think she should have voted off Rob. Doing the stone method would have given her 25% chance of being booted off. Keeping Rob in, IMO, gave her a 0% chance of going to the final two. I just can't see her winning any immunity challenge against Rob or Amber.

I agree Rob played the game well, though. I'm just biased because he is a dead ringer for a guy I dated through college and so I've never liked him from the very beginning (for that silly reason).

DH definitely thought Rob didn't deserve all the tongue-lashings he got at tribal council. They all forget this is just a game and to play the game well and come out on top, you have to do some lying or backstabbing. Richard had the right attitude at the reunion show. I think Ethan is the only person that ever won who got through the whole game being nice.

SueK,

I'm pretty sure Rob had immunity at the time that Jenna voted off Rupert.

I think Rob played the game well, too. I've had nothing against him this whole time. And, he added a lot to the "entertainment" factor of the show, IMO. I like to believe he isn't that arrogant in real life. He LOOKED like a real sweetheart last night and this AM when I saw him on TV.

Loren, I agree with your DH. I thought it was kind of pathetic that some of the others where still mad at Rob last night at tribal council. C'mon. Grow up.

Actually, it would never have gone to the stones in a bag thing...

After a second revote, the next tiebreaker is previous votes.

Rob had no previous votes, so unless he and amber split their votes, he was safe.

Jenna made the correct tactical choice, given that Amber had immunity, and would vote as a block w/ Rob.

We thought the same thing and were surprised that Jenna and everyone were talking about the purple rock thing instead of trying to remember who had votes before.

Hmmm, I must say that I thought Rob & Amber deserved the tongue-lashings they got at the final TC. I think Kathy said it best when she explained that there was another, parallel road that they could have chosen to get themselves to the same place that would not have left all the bad feelings behind, but they chose not to. Colby also alluded to it at the reunion show, when he said he tries to play the game with the greatest integrity. I'm not naive or anything; I understand it's a game and it's a million dollars, but I just think it's much more impressive and respectable to win or come close to winning (like Ethan or Colby) without all the lying and cheating than by the way Rob or Amber chose.

IMO, Rob & Amber did outlast and outplay, but outwit?? I don't equate outwit with using people or stabbing them in the back after lying to their faces. That's not outwitting. That's just a lack of scruples. Not that you need to scruples to play the game. It's just what you're willing to sacrifice to get the money, if that's your ultimate goal.

I also have to add, Amber looked MUCH better on the island, all grungy and make-upless, than she does IRL. :o :o I thought she looked particularly ho-ful last night.

Oh, Eva, I agree!

I don't think they deserved all the tongue-lashing though. I think Lex should have known better than to trust Rob -- he should be blaming himself. And Big Tom took it too far, although I do understand his later anger in defending his son.

I didn't like Shi-Ann very much during the game, but she surprised me last night with her "people in glass houses" speech and definitely redeemed herself in my eyes. I suppose it's different when you're playing the game with all of the emotions involved, but every season, I'm practically shaking the TV, telling them to get over it! DF told me last night that he'd turn on me for a million dollars. I think he was only slightly kidding. ;)

I totally agree. She had a certain air of innocence  when she was on the islad..like a little girl. But last night she looked trashy. And very smug.

Oh well...I have voted for Rupert already and I am hopeful this time HE will get what he really deserves. He's such a sweetheart. :)

Also, Jonny Fairplay gets my vote for best villain. He was so maddening and yet so entertaining to watch.

One of my favorite games I've ever played is extremely Survivor-esque...it has no random element at all...it's called "Diplomacy"...

Think "Risk", but take away the armies... each country has 1 army. You need to outnumber your opponent to take territory from him. But everyone starts off equal power....a stalemate, unless you can convince someone to help you out....

So here's how it works...you look at the map, and then set a timer for, say, 5 minutes. In those 5 minutes, you can make alliances and agree to team up to defeat your enemies. You can do this in private, stepping away from the other players in order to coordinate suprise attacks.... At the end of the time limit, everyone writes down what they ACTUALLY do,(as opposed to what they promised) and adjustments to the board are made. Continue until someone controls the world.

It has all the same elements of deception and alliance-building as Survivor. And noone should feel bad about losing.

These people who are trying to make moral judgements about others because they were "deceived" in the game... well, they are just poor losers. I don't like Richard Hatch much at all, but he gets it.... It's a game ABOUT deception. Don't make it represent anything else, and you'll be in a lot better shape.

I am pretty sure that last night there was not ever going to be a tie breaker involving previous votes. If the tie had been votes against Rob and Rupert the two of them would have picked the stones.

Anyone else have any idea which is correct?

I was totally disgusted with the way the show ended up. I was so mad at Jenna for not sticking with Rupert. Right then I knew it would be Amber and Rob in the final two. When it turned out that they were, I turned the TV off. I couldn't stand to see either one of them a second longer.

I found curious how Rob would not give up immunity to Amber when she asked.

He may have been afraid that she would take Jenna with her since she may have thought her chances were better against Jenna than Rob. While I don't like how Rob was presented, he did outplay, outlast and outmanuever (I don't want to say outwit) the rest very well. The jury may have also realized that and he was a strong contender to win the million dollars.

I get it that it's a game, but I found it strange that this person is supposed to trust you to take them to the final 2, but you can't/won't trust her to take you to the final two. And this is someone you want to spend the rest of your life with? Yes, it's a game and not real life, but c'mon, trust her for once!

Rupert had one previous vote against him...he would have lost the tiebreaker, so it wouldn't need to go to stones.

I'm quite confident of this order:

Vote, revote among the top votegetters, previous votes, stones.

He knew her for exactly 39 days. A difference of 900,000$ is nothing to leave to chance. Jeff was right also by pointing out that if one of them just "gave up" the jury might frown on it as arrogant....

She knew him the same amount of time and still trusted him not to vote her off.

I also thought he purposely encouraged her to bend down on the posts so she'd fall on the final immunity challenge.

I disagree. She didn't quit and give him the immunity. She lost and he did take her with him. I agree on the second point. It did look like he encouraged her ... probably hoping she would fall.
