I am going to make the Pan-Seared Cod with Basil Sauce from the March issue but my grocery store didn't have cod. Any ideas as to what I can substitute for it?
Thanks-
Jennie

Welcome to the BB!

Tilapia or flounder would work.

What about haddock?

Cook's Thesaurus suggests:

"pollock OR Cape capensis OR halibut OR sole OR flounder OR orange roughy OR haddock OR whiting OR hake OR ocean perch OR tilapia OR catfish OR tilefish"

I don't know - I have a jpg of an article giving all the fish substitutes but for some reason it doesn't show up. I attached the jpg file per the instructions so I'm at a loss.

Contrary to the instructions on this board...you can't attach/reference anything on your hard drive. It needs to exist out on the web itself

Well, I knew you were trying to attach something. I was just being a stinker.

Can you cut-and-paste it or is it too long?

Thanks for clearing up the confusion.

If anybody is interested, I can just post it on my mac. webpage and do a link.
