Cindy -- I read on the "do you like your job?" thread that you changed careers and became a personal chef. My sister is really interested in doing that, but it would be a total career change for her. Can you provide any information on how you did this, or resources I could tell her about?
Thanks.
Gaye

I actually posted a question almost identical to yours, Gaye, on that thread-- so I'm really interested in any information, too!

Hi there,
I can give you a little information. My sister-in-law is now a Personal Chef. You can get more information on this website:

Hopefully Chef Cindy will see this and offer her (personal) side of it.

I also received an e-mail response from Sharon with lots of useful information, which I forwarded to my sister. Thanks for the responses -- those who are also interested in this career might want to contact Sharon for more information.

Sorry everyone for being so late to respond. I have been busy and have not be able to get on my computer. Thank you for all the interest in what I do for a living. I come from a high tech background and for years I have wanted to do something creative and help improve the quality of people's lives if I could. I discovered the concept of the personal chef a couple of years ago and started my business around May of last year. My biz is still very young and it has been a challenging road I have chosen to take. I didn't want to be eighty years old and have regrets about not taking a chance on something that I really wanted to do. So here I am. I have received a huge amount of support and information from the American Personal Chef Association. After being a employee for so many years, I am amazed of how much more respect I get from people when they learn that I am a business owner. It is truly something. So, any of you that are considering becoming a Personal Chef, my advice to you is to do your homework, join a group for advice and information and above all.... HAVE LOTS OF PATIENCE!! Hope this helps.
