Val posted this one a little while back, it looks like it would be full of flavor.
Curried Broccoli Salad

2 tbsps flaked coconut
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp cumin
1/4 tsp turmeric
1/8 tsp allspice
1/8 tsp pepper
4 c fresh broccoli florets
1/2 c finely chopped red onion

NOTES : very good. I thought there wouldn't be enough dressing to cover (I used fat free mayo), but after the salad sat in the fridge for a couple hours, I mixed it up again and there was plenty.

Tammy, I use the recipe in Cooking Light Complete and leave out the grapes. Then I add in the bacon. I like their dressing since it's lower in calories/fat.

The one I make is almost identical to the one krispy spo posted, EXCEPT it does not use cheese, and it DOES have raisins, usually golden raisins. That emphasizes the sweet/sour aspect.

This is my favorite salad to make for get togethers in the summer.
6 slices of bacon, cooked and crumbled
4 cups broccoli florets
1 cup red grapes, halved
1/4 cup chopped red onion
1 cup low fat or fat free Miracle Whip
1/2 cup sugar
2 T vinegar
1/4 cup sunflower seeds
Mix the Miracle Whip, sugar and vinegar. Toss with broccoli, onions, bacon and sunflower seeds. Cover and chill about 4 hours.
I love the crunch of the seeds and sweetness of the grapes. I think you could lighten it more by decreasing the sugar a bit and use turkey bacon.:)

Broccoli Salad
2 bunches broccoli florets
1 pound bacon, divided
1 cup currants or golden raisins, divided
1 cup unsalted sunflower seeds, divided
1 red onion, chopped, divided
1/2 cup candied orange peel, divided
Dressing
1 cup mayonnaise
1/3 cup granulated sugar
2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
In a saute pan over high heat, cook bacon until crisp. Remove from pan, drain and coarsley chop.
In a large bowl, combine broccoli, bacon, sunflower seeds, onion and orange peel. Reserve some bacon, currants, sunflower seeds, onion, and orange peel for garnish.
Dressing:
In a small bowl, whisk mayonnaise, sugar, and vinegar. Pour over salad appoximately 1/2 hour before serving and toss well.
Variations:
I don't care for raisins, so I use dried cranberries.
I've also seen cashews used in place of sunflower seeds.
I'm also not too keen on candied orange peel, so I just leave that out.
