View Full Version : Do you have a pizzelle iron? If so, what brand?
Please tell me about your pizzelle iron. What brand is it? Is it easy to use? Is cleanup easy or a pain in the neck? I love pizzelles and thought I would buy one, but I didn't realize there were so many brands out there.
Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

Mine is a Toastmaster. I'd asked for one for Mother's Day a couple of years ago (showed DH the one from WS but got this one instead...) anyway it's not difficult to clean but it does take a bit of practice getting the right amount of batter in. Beth made some beautiful ones for our picnic.

Hi
Mine is Villaware & its very easy to use. Makes two pizelles at a time and nice size too (big) I kept a tall tin can and once they cool I keep them there and they keep very well.

Great idea about the tall tin can...I've lots of those! I've only ever made enough for the moment since I wasn't sure how long they'd keep. Thanks for the info, Vanessa!
I have two, and both are Villaware. The ones I made for the picnic were made on the Quatro -- it makes four pizzelles at once, about 3-1/2 inches across. I also have the regular size one -- about 5 inches across. They make a nice size for a small ice cream bowl, to roll or cut into wedges. The main reason I got the smaller one was to make stroopwaffels (two cookies filled with caramel -- divine!)that weren't meal replacements.
I waited several months to get the Quatro and finally got it from Kitchen, etc. OMG! I just went to get a link for you, and this is an even better deal than the one I got and thought was great --
Check this out! (http://www.kitchenetc.com/Products.cfm?sku=001016583)
The delay in shipping during moving applies to orders placed through today, so it doesn't look like you would have a significant delay. Also looks like you have to order by phone. I love my Vilaware irons and they struck me as the best made of any I have seen in person (nearly all the ones under $100, I think), and this is half to a third of the general retail prices. I'd buy one if I didn't already have one! :D

Well, I don't have a Quatro so I'm ordering one!! Thank you so much for finding that !! :D
I think you'll really like it. The cookie size is very versatile, Villaware makes a nice product, and I'll even share the stroop waffel recipe (I combined a couple after thinking that the Marth recipe would be a safe first try -- WRONG!). I was thrilled when I found mine for $29 -- most had been $49. I waited so long because I had ordered from Amazon for $39 and no shipping and it was the best deal around. Have fun!

Thanks for posting that link, Beth. Unfortunately, it was such an incredible deal, they're no longer available. :(
I'm in the market for a new pizelle maker, and I'll keep my eye out for this one.
Thanks again! :)
Did you try calling them -- it said not available online. I am also wondering if that has to do with their move. Of course, after the move, tehy may go back to normal prices.

Hi Beth - yes, I called. The person I spoke to looked up the SKU code and told me it was unavailable.
Oh well. ;)

We have a manual pizzelle iron. I'd definitely opt for electric. Ours is hard to use on a gas range, and it's much harder on an electric range.

My 1st pizzelle iron was a toastmaster that had reversible grids that made waffles on one side & 2 large pizzelles on the other.. used it til it died.. then got a villaware that made 2 large pizzelles & used that til it died.. That's over a period of about 10 years...
I now have the Quattro by VIlla ware that I absolutely love..( have had maybe 6 years? more or less?)
I prefer the 4 smaller pizzelles; perfect f/weddings, showers, etc & my DD"s like that size too.
Mine is nonstick; I just put a little melted shortening on the grids before heating it up; then wipe it out very well with a paper towel after I'm done. I store it with a folded up piece of paper towel inside.
The recipe that comes with the VIllaware book is a good one ( the thin one is the one I use) YOu can double or triple that recipe & store the xtra batter in the fridge.
I made these for our Supper Club Cookie exchange that I hosted last November.
We have an Italian market that carries EVERTHING, that's where I bought mine... Maybe about $39 or so?
Sorry I posted something that wasn't available. I was thinking that was just an online thing while they were moving the wherehouse. I'd watch it for a few days or call back if you're really interested. You never know -- and I have seen some on eBay at pretty good prices too.

Beth - there's no need to apologize, really. I'm not surprised they went quickly, at a price like that! :)
I appreciate the effort.
