dutch oven

can someone briefly explain the difference between a stockpot and dutch oven and any other large pot that I'm missing? is a good example of a dutch oven, le creuset and a stockpot is merely a big pot to make soup or cook spaghetti- there are a few recipes that I haven't made because I don't think I have a dutch oven....tia
