I can't find Mexican chocolate around here anywhere and want to make that Rick Bayless chocolate cake. I've ordered from ethnicgrocer.com in the past but they don't carry it. Has anyone ordered it online before? I found some at http://www.gourmetsleuth.com. Anyone ever order from them?
I've ordered from www.mexgrocer.com
Good luck with the cake!!

When do you need it by? I can get some here (Ibarra and others) and send it to you.

I needed some for a Mexican Hot Chocolate recipe from Martha. I was actually able to find it at Albertson's. Do you have Alberton's in your area? I did not expect to find it there but I did. I'm sure it isn't the ultimate best quality but it was still pretty good.

You ever think we need to set up a grocery exchange? :D

Renee, I live in a highly Hispanic populated city. Mexican products abound!
Yes Beth, I agree with you. I've looked high and low for espresso powder to no avail! :(

I'm with you, Beth. I've looked everywhere for fig preserves and I've struck out completely!
Sorry for the temporary hijacking...:o

I recall seeing that once at the Cost Plus World Market at Riverpark. But that was over a year ago and they may not carry it anymore.

I can buy it at Cost Plus here (last time I looked) as well as the grocery store. I can't say I've ever looked for fig preserves. Sounds like we also have a work-from-home business oportunity for the happy shopper. :D

Cinnamon!! Where have you been?? Are you still interested in Supper Club? Let me know!
I'll have to check Cost Plus when I get to Fresno again. Poo, and I was just at Michaels last Sat. :(

Here I am! Sorry I couldn't get back to this thread earlier.
Susan, what a sweet offer! I'm not actually in a rush. I want to make it for some friends in August, but would like to do a trial-bake beforehand. I was going to take you up on your offer, but I just checked out the site that Helene posted. I see some other stuff I want, so I think I will do an order.
Thanks so much everyone. :) :)

Well, I see you've got your source figured out and just wanted to chime in with how excellent that cake is! I made it for some friends about a month ago and they're still talking about it. You'll love it :) Oh, and it freezes beautifully as well.

Thanks, Em. I'm hoping that my friends will love it too. :) ;)
I was at the store last nigth and did not find espresso powder. I hadn't looked for it at that store before, so I will look and make sure they still have it at Cost Plus and the other grocery store. I'll let you know if I can still find it in case you need someone to send you some.
