Where can you find sake? Do some grocery stores carry it, or do you have to go to a
package store? Thanks for any info.

You don't indicate where you are, so I can't comment on the liquor availability in your state.
Sake IS an alcoholic drink, so you'll have to find it in the liquor section of your grocery store, at a comprehensive liquor store, or, if it's state-controlled, at the state store.

rissole,
I get my Sake in the grocery store. It is on the shelf in the liquor section by the Sherry and Marsala. If you can't find it, ask your grocer. They may have it in a special place.

A friend from Japan told me that sake is the same thing as rice vinegar.
Hope this helps, Karen

Sake is not the same as rice vinegar. It is rice wine. It is similar to Mirin which is also known as sweet sake - rice wine with sugar added. Check to see if there are any Asian markets near you - we have Ranch 99 which is a fun shopping experience. Also you will find it in some grocery stores.
