Is it my server? (I have AOL http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/frown.gif ) or are other people having problems w/ this bulletin board. I'm having problems bringing up the posts. Often times I get a server error message. It's very frustrating.

Leslie, that was happening to me over the weekend from home. I seem to be able to see the posts just fine from work. Hmm, I have aol at home, too. I need to get rid of it. Nothing but problems.

Don't know if it is the same problem I had or not but I used my server tech support and found I didn't have enough memory alotted for temporary internet files. I had only 1 MB assigned and he had me up it to 100MB. I am not on AOL.

I've been having problems with this board lately, and I don't have AOL. Posts often come up blank. I don't know if it's me or the board. . . .

Maybe this board isn't use to the larger volume of mail it's been receiving and can't handle it. I do have enough memory, I have a new computer and I know it's properly equipped. Then again, AOL could be the problem. I'm using it until my cable company offers cable modem.

The memory I am referrring to has nothing to do with the total memory on your computer. In Explorer you'll find the settings for the temporary internet files-this has a memory allocation. You might want to check an see what you have designated for this memory.

I usually only read and post from work because I have nothing but trouble with both this board and the Cooking Light site in general at home with AOL. But you have a new computer, so I'm not sure the problem's the same since I have an older computer and am running an older version of AOL (which is what I was guessing the problem was)

I've been having problems too. About the last week or so. Sometimes it's fine and other times it's slow and I can't get posts.

So, I'm not alone! I have a fairly new computer-- about a year old, AND AOL! I have had nothing but problems getting on both sites from home, especially in the evening. (I really don't have a problem at 6 am, although it is slower than at work) Sometimes from work it might state that a topic has say, 10 replies, but when I open it is only has 5. Normally refreshing helps that. After reading that others are having trouble, I think it may be pointing to AOL.

We have MSN Explorer and my old computer, sorry to state, no problems reading this bb. I do receive a daily ezine that often lists that AOL hasn't sent certain copies out because of the volume of emails. We had AOL 8 years ago, could it be that long ago? We had terrible problems and once we changed servers, they continued to bill us! Somehow I think that they have grown too quickly and can't accomodate the volume. Just my opinion!

IMO, AOL could be the problem-or what sneezles mentioned. I have Microsoft Internet Explorer (always have) but, I hear soooo many complaints from friends that have AOL;not being able to do things..
My BF works on computers & rebuilds new/used ones and absolutely refuses to put AOL on any of them-he hates it!

Add me on as another AOL (I have 6.0) user who has problems - but I didn't have too many problems until installing 6.0.
We do have IE, so I'll have to access this site using that and see how it goes. Very interesting...

I do not have AOL, and I use IE. I'm not having any problems at all. I think it's an AOL problem....friends at work have AOL and are complaining of problems.

I have this same problem & do not use AOL. I use microsoft explorer as a browser. This is a fairly new problem for me - but I also used to use Netscape as a browser.

It took me about 16 attempts at different times to read all these posts. Couldn't get through! I guess I'll have to change servers. Sigh! I hate doing that. It's such a pain having to reprogram all your preferences and addresses. AOL talked about how they ironed out all their previous problems but were they wrong. They're really pushing this high speed access #%&$. So now that they're focusing all their attention on that they're ignoring all the regular AOL users like myself who don't want to shell out lots of money for high speed access. I do want it, just not from them.

I also have AOL and have been having problems getting on the CL bb. I do not seem to have any problems getting on anything else just the CL bb. I can get on the CL page but I cannot access the bb from there. It just started about a week ago. Until then I had no problems getting on the CL bb.

Excuse me for repeating myself...but you should check the amount of memory you have allocated for temporary internet files!

Here's a novice question for you... Can you access these sites directly through Internet Explorer and not use AOL? That is, if you are a member of AOL can you still do that? If so...How? I have AOL and I am constantly getting knocked off line, or having to refresh the panel to get into certain sites. And it takes forever to get from one screen to another!!! Could all of this be the result of AOL? I did take Sneezles advice and up my allocated memory through Explorer but I already had like 63 mb allotted to them and I raised it to 100 just to see if it would make any difference.

I've got AOL too - and lately have been having problems as well - some messages will come up quick as ever - some just won't appear - but it hasn't been just this site - for me it's an internet wide problem. Last night I dumped the temporary internet files and cookies hoping for a miracle but no luck.

Leslie!! Try opening the bulletin board in Netscape. I couldn't get to a topic at all then decided to go through Netscape instead of IE and it worked!! Maybe should have thought of it early since my husband is always commenting on how "superior" netscape is to IE http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif.

Thanks sneezles and bossy (love your usernames) I'll download Netscape and also check my memory. Funny thing is I haven't had a problem these past two days, and like everyone also has reported the problem didn't start until about a week or two ago.
