This is a good recipe but not a great one. I used Penzey's Dutch process cocoa and the chocolate flavor is fine, but it is nothing outstanding. I might add mashed banana or something next time to add some interest.

Also, the texture is not very ice-creamy. The recipe did not say to chill the mixture ahead of time but I would do that next time and see if that improved the texture. I think the ice-cream stopped freezing before the real texture could develop.

In general, I did not think it was much of an improvement over Haagen Dazs chocolate sorbet, which is FF and this ice cream is not. I might make it one more time with the above changes before I discard the recipe, though.

Thanks for the review - sounds like I will skip that one.

Is there a recipe for the Haagen Dazs sorbet or were you talking about store-bought? If there is a recipe, I'd sure be interested. :)

I also need to try Lorilei's chocolate sorbet - this summer I've made lime, mango and strawberry sorbet, so now it's time for chocolate. Well, it's ALWAYS time for chocolate.... ;)

Alysha--The recipe involves driving to the grocery store and wheeling the cart over to the ice-cream aisle.

I will have to hunt down lorilei's chocolate sorbet. We made mango sorbet earlier this summer...mmmmmmm.
