We had a very successful Valentine's Day dinner. In my menu, I tried two recipes from the Jan/Feb '01 issue.

Basmati Pilaf with Almonds and Cilantro - This was excellent! My first success cooking basmati rice on the stove. (FYI - I have had two failures making the Herbed Basmati Rice that everyone talks about.) I followed the directions exactly and this one worked. Hurray!! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif No crunch factor...the rice was cooked perfectly. I think I will make this often.

Double Chocolate Souffle Torte with Raspberry Sauce - DH score: 8.7/10, Daughter's score 9.5/10, (keep in mind she is a chocoholic and loves raspberries!) My opinion: The preparation was a bit time consuming but that was OK for a special occasion. It looked just like the picture. Texture was very light and fluffy. I had though it would be denser, but reviewing all of the ingredients I can see that was an incorrect assumption on my part. The flavor was good, but I just didn't like the way it disintegrated in my mouth. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/tongue.gif A texture problem for me. The raspberry sauce was good but I thought it was too thin. I would give it in the high 6's or low 7's out of 10.

Hope you all had successful Valentine's Day dinners!
