Lesser of 2 evils: panty lines or medium fanny wiggle?

I am packing for my romantic getaway to NYC, and plan to wear a great hot pink silk sheath out tonight. It fits well (not tight), and it lined, if that plays into your answer.

Should I opt for bikini undies that keep my butt static, but create panty lines? Or a thong, which doesn't create any lines in this particular dress, but leaves me a little bit wiggly in the rear?

I have a Nancy Ganz slimmer thing, but I feel very unsexy in that, and tonight I am dressing for DH, not my mother. I wish I had time to run out and get some of those "spanx" things that people rave about, but I don't.

Please, oh fashion mavens, show me the way....

Boy-cut brief! Jockey makes some great styles in really light fabrics. They also have some regular style undies that they claim are seamless, and they really are (for me, anyway).

And despite the wondrous claims on the Spanx site, those things are the most uncomfortable things I've ever worn. Plus, they are darn dangerous to get in and out of! I've tried the Super Spanx and the Power Panty (ordered both at the same time, not knowing what I was , ahem, getting into). :o
