It's Girl Scout cookie season and I always pick up a few boxes when the troup is selling at K-Mart. This year they were out of my favorite, thin mints. EE---Gads!!

But, I did pick up extra shortbread, but we all love them, even my cat so they go so quickly.

I have found the copy cat recipes for thin mints and shortbread from the Top Secret Recipe guy and the copykat.com, but has anyone ever tried them!!?? Even Martha did a thin mint one, but hers was a sandwich cookie.

I'm thinking of trying them, but do they really taste close to the real thing!!?? Has anyone had success with either recipes?

Thanks!
Tami

I haven't but I can tell you that Snack Well's mint creme cookies taste just like thin mints, if not better!

Tami,

If you do a search for "thin mint cookies" you should find a couple of discussions re:the girl scouts thin mints.

basically its ritz crackers dipped in melted chocolate (with or without parafin wax) and mint extract added to the chocolate.

good luck, Ann

p.s. it's under a thread titled ISO: recipe for thin mint cookies using ritz crackers

Thanks for the quick replys, I have checked out the Ritz cracker one, but I was wondering if anyone has made the copy cat recipes that start with a cake mix etc.

My mother tried the Snack Wells, I personally thought they were nasty, she loved them though. I miss the crisp break the thin mints have and the crunch!

I know I'll just break down and make the recipes to see for myself, but I was wondering if anyone had tried them before I do.

I'll let everyone know though! Thin mints have been my favorite since I was a Girl Scout selling cookies! And the shortbreads are gobbled up by us all, even my cat jumps up on my lap and tries to knock them out of my hands.

Thanks!
Tami
