I saw this film last night and I highly recommend it, although it is a long documentary (2.5 hours). I know some of you are thinking, "Of course Jessica liked it; she is a whiny liberal weenie." Uh, somewhat true, but I also am a capitalist and former economics student. I support free trade. I think businesses make important contributions. But the film's thesis that corporations have too much unbridled power is carefully presented and well-argued, and I think the questions it raises are interesting to people on all points of the political spectrum.

The central argument is that corporations have the legal rights of persons, but they do not function as normal persons and thus are harmful to civilization.

Has anyone else seen The Corporation? What did you think?

Thanks for the review; Bob and I have been having some serious discussions lately about the 14th amendment and its 'abuse' allowing corporations the same legal rights as a citizen. Its interesting how freetrade/capitalism has come to equal democracy in some peoples' minds.

FWIW, I don't think you're a 'whiny liberal weenie', but that's because I'm one too! LOL :p
