I found this on page 98 of the '99 annual (April '98 issue). The choptle is a dried smoked jalapeno...often pickled and canned in adodo sauce. Gee, what interesting things you can find while looking through the annuals. Now if only I knew what adobo sauce was made from!!--Lisa

ADOBO SAUCE [ah-DOH-boh]
Of Mexican origin, this dark-red, rather piquant sauce (or paste) is made from ground CHILES, herbs and vinegar. It's used as a marinade as well as a serving sauce. CHIPOTLE CHILES are often marketed packed in adobo sauce.

My can of chipolte peppers in adobo sauce lists the ingredients as: chipolte peppers, tomato puree, vinegar, sunflower seed oil, onions, sugar, salt, paprika and garlic.
