I just responded today to Jennifer in Lawrenceville and to Bonnie in Snellville regarding a supper club in the NE Atlanta Metro area. If anyone else is interested, please let me know.

I just returned to Atlanta from a 15 month stay in the Pocono Mountains in NE Pennsylvania where my husband and I started a club there. We had so much fun and had lots of good food and wine!! Let's get this thing started ladies!

My husband and I both love to cook and live in Suwanee (almost Duluth and Alpharetta). Please keep us in mind also.

Hello to Bonnie, Jennifer and Muffy! I'm so glad that we have some interest in starting a Supper Club in NE Atlanta! AND. . .hello to Kelly in Allentown, PA!! Kelly and myself along with Lisa started our supper club in PA last summer. I miss you guys bunches!!!

And now back to the subject of clubing. . .I suggest that we pick a day that we can all meet for coffee so we can introduce ourselves and meet each other face to face. At this time, we can discuss how we want to structure our club. We can do anything that we want to. . .so be thinking of what it is YOU personally want out of this experience.

A couple of things to think about initially. . .how often do we want to meet, how many people are we comfortable with being a part of the group (some like small gatherings while others have "the more the merrier" attitude). For instance, our club in PA met every 6 weeks. We only had 3 couples initially and decided that we actually liked our small group (plus we each only had 6 chairs at our dinner tables, and wanted to have a "sit-down" dinner as opposed to dinner all over the house). We rotated houses so every one participated in hosting the club. The host was responsible for planning the entire menu as well as preparing the entree. The host then delegated to the other members what to bring. . .one of us brought dessert and the other member brought the appetizer and salad or soup. Each member brought wine to complement their part of the meal.

So, let's talk about a day and time to meet. I'm ready whenever you ladies are. Would a weekend morning be a good time for everyone to meet initially? Let me know your thoughts, and we will schedule a time and place.

Regards,
Donna

Any day is fine with me (except this Friday, Aug 20), though Mondays are the only day I have childcare (a.k.a. Nana!). If it doesn't bother others, I certainly don't mind meeting another morning and bringing her along. Don't worry, though, I don't plan for her to attend suppers!!

Oops, I think I read Donna's message too fast!! I read week"day" instead of week"end," but in any case, I can meet Saturdays any time, and Sundays after 11:30 a.m.

Sounds like a great idea Donna. I can meet on a Saturday or Sunday morning.

This will be SO much fun.

I would love to join a supper club. I am new to Alpharetta and would love to meet some new people. I'll keep checking the board for info.

Sounds like fun. I live in Suwanee and would like to join. Have you met yet? Let me know where things stand and if you have room for one/two more.

Well, should we go ahead and set a date and time to meet with one another? Since this weekend is a holiday, I'll suggest meeting Sept. 11 (I think that is a Saturday--correct me if I have the date wrong). Shall we say 10:00 a.m. at the cafe in Barnes and Noble by Gwinnett Place Mall? It may be a bit of drive from Snellville and Alpharetta, but it is pretty much central to Duluth, Suwanee, L'ville. If someone knows of a nice little place to meet for coffee that works better than a bookstore, please share!! I know there's a lot of expansion in Duluth, Snellville, and Alpharetta, so there may be some cool places in one of those towns. I can't wait to meet all of you and get started!! What a great time of year to inaugurate a new supper club!!!

Saturday the 11th at 10:00 a.m.would work fine for me. Barnes and Noble would be fine. Another thought I had was the La Madeline's which is in the same parking lot. They have coffee, tea, juice and delicious treats. Barnes and Noble is fine though. How will we know who is there for the supper club meeting? Should we carry a Cooking Light Magazine or perhaps wear a flower in our lapel?

Looking forward to meeting with everyone. Thanks for getting the ball rolling Jennifer.

I will be able to make the meeting. I am really looking forward to meeting everyone. Could someone please give me an address, so I could get directions off Mapquest? I will be coming from Alpharetta. Maybe we should bring our favorite issue of Cooking Light so we can recognize each other. Then we could talk about our favorite recipes!

That is a most excellent idea. I know JUST the issue I'd bring. The Barnes and Noble is off Pleasant Hill between Buford Highway and I85. it is in the same shopping center as an On the Border and a Rooms to Go. Here is a link with a map.

I hope it will work out for everyone else.

I've been reading your NE Atlanta club thread--wasn't sure if I'd be in Atlanta for your organizational meeting, but I will be. Can I meet too? DH & I are interested in getting in a group. With the number of people mentioning interest, there may be enough that more than one group could form...if all interested show up of course.

Oh, I am so excited!!! I encourage anyone who is interested to feel free to attend the meeting. Bringing along our favorite issue is a great idea to identify ourselves. We can make notes about any decisions we make about a supper club, and report that information to those who may be unable to attend. I can't wait to meet all of you!!!

We're also interested in joining a supper club. We live in Roswell. If this group gets too big, maybe we can form a second group in the Alpharetta area.

Look forward to seeing you on Sept 11.

I'm also interested in joining a club but cannot make the Sept. 11 meeting. I moved here recently and would love to meet some new people through dining! Please keep me in mind if there's room in any of the new groups forming.
Thanks,
Karen (and Jim if it's a couples thing)

Hello everyone! Sorry I have not posted in a couple of weeks, but I COULD NOT reply or post!! I have been SO frustrated!!! I just heard today from someone from CL and they have fixed the problem so here I am again finally.

I plan to be in attendance on Saturday morning, September 11th at B & N at Gwinnett Mall area. I too look forward to meeting everyone. It seems that we have great interest in forming a club. . .we certainly may be able to start more than one supper club.

I wish everyone a good week and look forward to our meeting on Saturday! Jennifer. . .thanks for getting the meeting set up!

Donna

Hello-- I'm interested in joining the Northeast Atlanta supper club. I hope I'm not too late. I live in Dunwoody (which may be a little out of the area), but I'd love to be part of the group. I'm planning to attend the meeting on Saturday morning and I'm looking forward to meeting everyone!

I'll be out of town on Saturday and can't make the meeting, but please include me in one of the groups forming if possible! I'm interested in single or couple-- whatever works best-- and I live in east Marietta near Johnsons Ferry and Paper Mill roads. Thanks!

Eight of us met yesterday at Barnes and Noble for our supper club organizational meeting. It was a wonderful opportunity to meet and plan with folks who share a love for good food.

We are planning on meeting on the first Saturday of every month beginning October 2nd. All of us were interested in having a couples supper club, but singles are certainly welcome. Since there were some folks unable to attend the meeting, but who expressed interest on this board, we will wait until our October 2nd get together to make any decisions as to whether we would continue as one group or divide into two groups.

Our theme for our first meeting is appetizers and desserts. Each person/couple will also bring a beverage (wine, beer, mixed drink, non-alcoholic drink) that will complement the appetizer or dessert they are bringing. Please also bring a card with the recipe and nutritional information. We will be using recipes that are "light" but they don't necessarily have to be from Cooking Light.

We are also to bring some "to go" containers so that we will be able to share the leftovers to take home. :)

Anyone who was not at the meeting, but who is interested in participating, please e-mail me directly via pm.

It was a delight to meet and talk with all who were there. I look forward to getting to know each of you better through the coming year.

Thank you to all who helped get things rolling for a new club. It was wonderful meeting all of you at Saturday's organizational meeting.

I'm so disappointed that I can't make our first gathering in October -- but we can't let my plans stop the momentum! Just know that my husband and I are looking forward to the next get-together.

I've got our calendar marked for Nov. 6. If you decide to change the sequence (like to the second Sat of the month, for example), just let me know.

Have a great time on Oct 2!

Polly,

We're disappointed that you and your husband won't be able to make it to our first gathering as well, but thanks SO much for encouraging us to go ahead and get the ball rolling. We'll raise a toast to you!

I live in Alpharetta and would love to have a local supper club! I'm still trying to get my husband motivated, but I have a neighbor who would love to be involved (we're hoping our husbands will both become more involved since they're friends!) Please let me know when you plan to meet.

Is there still room in the supper club that is meeting on Oct. 2nd? If so would y'all mind if I came by? I just moved to Alpharetta a month ago, and would love to join a supper club. If this particular one is too large, maybe those of us in the Alpharetta/ Roswell areas can split off & do our own.

Cheers,
Marian:)

Everyone who was at our planning meeting and KWarner should have received a pm from me requesting that you send your e-mail address to mine.

It is time to get directions ready to get to you folks and we decided the best way to do that would be through our personal e-mail addresses.

Please check your pm and respond ASAP. October 2nd is a hop, skip and a jump away.

I'd definitely like to be included in an Alpharetta/Roswell/Dunwoody/Sandy Springs supper club. My husband, 20 month old daughter and I live in Alpharetta, as well. I wouldn't want to travel as far as Duluth or Snellville. Please let me know what you all decide to do. I can be emailed at lulagirl@bellsouth.net.
Thanks,
Lisa

Unfortunately, my situation has changed somewhat. Although my home will remain in Alpharetta, my husband has taken a job offer for a 6 month contract out of the country, starting after the first week of October. I won't be able to join him until November, however. Maybe I could join up for one dinner before I leave, just to meet everyone, and then continue upon our return.
