Has anyone out there ever extracted the oils from herbs like rosemary, patchouli, basil, or mint?
A friend of mine and I are wanting to extract oils and then have my DH use them in making soap. I have this wonderful book called The Encyclopedia of Country Living , and it basically says you put the leaves in a jar with rubbing alcohol, close the lid and let it set for 10-14 days, strain out the solids, then let the liquid sit in the jar w/ cheesecloth over the top until the alcohol evaporates and all you are left with is the oil.
Any advice would be really great!
