I have seen a few recipes for these, and I tried one a few years ago, but it didn't turn out too well. I have seen a couple more on the internet and one in a Fannie Farmer cookbook. Has anyone tried them?
I made the dough for the Fannie Farmer doughnuts. (I am refrigerating it to roll out tomorrow and bake the following morning.) I felt that the small amount of sugar did not seem appropriate for doughnuts, so I doubled it. I seem to recall that lots of frosting is essential though. Has anyone tried such a recipe, and does anyone have any other suggestions for baked yeast doughnuts?
It would be nice to see Cooking Light with a recipe. They once had some baked cake doughnuts, but I see those all the time. (They are basically a different shape of muffin.)
