View Full Version : I'm in a cooking rut -- any fresh ideas?

I'm making the same things over and over again (whole roast chicken, lasagna, some sort of veg soup, balsamic pork chops). Anyone suggest something tasty and relatively simple to make? I have the Complete Cooking Light, but I haven't made anything from it yet. Just feeling uninspired.

Since you mentioned the Complete CL Cookbook, I have listed below some of the recipes that BBers have tried w/success.
Make-Ahead Ooey-Gooey Sticky Buns
Spiced Chicken & Barley aka Smothered Chicken & Barley
Multi-Grain Pilaf w/Root Vegetables
Southwestern Vegetarian Black Bean Soup
Roasted Chestnut Soup
Gouda Stuffed Chicken w/Apples
Italian Vegetable Pie
Asian Flank Steak
Spaghetti Squash Veggie Gratin
Winter Fruit Pandowdy
Roasted Garlic & Potato Soup
Brie & Caramelized Onion Stuffed Chicken Breasts
Tuscan Skillet Supper
Cheese & Corn Stuffed Potatoes
Cinnamon Crumb Cake
Spinach, Feta and Rice Pie
Roasted Vegetable Mac & Cheese
Green Onion Drop Biscuits
Greek Style Shrimp Scampi
Mexican Cobb Salad w/Line-Cilantro Vinaigrette
Corn and Green Chile Souffle
Raspberry Balsamic Chicken
Pub Salad w/Creamy Tarragon Dressing
Now all of these have been given good reviews and many have our BBers subbing ingredients and/or "kicking-up" a recipe.
Maybe one of these will inspire you, I hope so :)
