I received my September issue of Cooking Light today. I looked for a thread that someone else had started but couldn't find one. I can't be one of the first, can I?
Roast pork and grilled veggies on the cover.

I haven't gotten mine yet.
Wahoo!! :D
I've been peeking in on the boards for the last week or so to see if anybody had gotten it! That means I'll find it in stores either this Friday or next Friday. (As you can tell, I have no life.)

I don't know if I am ready for Sept. I'm embarassed to admit I never made anything out of July or August. :o I intended to, I promise. Once the kids get back to school on Wed., life will be more organized again (or at least I think so  )

Thanks for all the recipes, Cheryl. Looks like there might be a few more grilled recipes in this issue than there had been. Like funnybone, I didn't cook much from July or August since there wasn't much to grill.

Thanks for the preview. I'm looking forward to cooking more now that the kids are back in school.

Pork and Peanut Noodle Salad
This was so far down on the list, I was afraid we weren't going to get a pasta/peanut dish next issue!
Now, how about chipotle something or other? ;)
Bob
Cheryl - thanks for posting the recipe index!
Our cable modem got fried during a storm last Friday and so I haven't had internet access until it got fixed this morning. I was very anxious to jump on here and see if anyone had seen September yet! :)

Oh my gosh now I can't wait for my issue to come in the mail, all the pork dishes sound soooo good plus it looks all too familiar, my grandma cooks alot of spanish cuisine, this will be perfect to see how lightened up the dishes are!

I did see the article about the Supper Clubs. Always nice to see some BB'ers in the magazine. :) They do an article every year about it, don't they?
Always nice to see yet another chicken-green chile casserole type dish, too. ;)

I was just in the magazine store, almost bought CL, then poked myself to remember it's coming in the mail. I then tucked BA and GOURMET under my arm, but finally said "What? Are you nuts? You're going away!", put them all back and settled for just VERMONT LIFE.
But I hear the words "bitter caramel ice cream" calling me now....

September arrived in Indiana today, at least my neck of the woods. I haven't been cooking much from cooking light lately either. We have been grilling alot and eating all the wonderful garden fresh goodies. I need to menu plan again :o

Oops, sorry. I scanned the index page and it came up somewhat garbled. I cut and pasted, but evidently some of the items were left behind and added somewhere else.
One of these days I'll invest in a decent software program for my cheapie scanner.
Does the Supper Club article have a picture of the Chicago group?????
can't wait to get this issue- it looks like a good one!

YES!! You're a STAR!! :D :D
In the vegetarian section this month, most of the recipes are using meat substitutes, hence the Italian Sausage and chicken dishes! I thought the same thing when I first read the index though!
Sarah
So "our" group picture is in!!! ooh I am a star!!!!:) :D :)
Can't wait to see it!

I nearly always have mine by the 20th of the month, but no sign of September yet.
*SIGH*
Alas, now begins my jealous time of the month. I seem to get mine during the second week of the month, which is really pretty deplorable.
I am trying to control my jealous rage :D which seems to be growing as I see more and more TASTY reviews for September. I seriously can't wait (what a sad life!).

Bumping this back up to congratulate Maureen and Grace (Grace? Again???? How much is she paying the photo editor? ;) ) on their lovely photo in the September issue. I hadn't gotten mine yet so I was duly avoiding this thread. What a nice surprise to be reading it and come across your photo!

I know, Julie!! Can you believe it?!! Thanks everyone for your enthusiasm and kind words! My husband took the picture and is bummed that he didn't get photo credits. :D ha ha ha!
And I was thrilled, thrilled, thrilled to have Maureen with us (in general and especially that day!). I'm sooooo glad she got to join us for the picture. For those that haven't met our Maureen (kima) in person and don't know what she looks like, she's the one seated on the far right.
NOW what's funny is how the phone rings from people I haven't seen in ages that see it, and even CUSTOMERS (I'm a mortgage broker) are mentioning they saw me!! :D

Bought it today!!! And guess what???It magiacally opened to "our' page!!!
The picture brings back so many fond memories- especially all the laughter! Thank you so much Grace for arranging the Supper Club while I was there. I will autograph copies if you send a self addressed stamped envelope (oh this is definately going to my head!!!):o :p

YAY!! Got my issue in yesterday's mail!!
Grace and Maureen (the celebs:D) I have a questtion:
Is there anyone else in the pics that posts on the BB? Since they only referenced Grace by name.
Grace
09-01-2004, 09:40 AM
Pammela - in answer to your question, not really. The one girl seated 2nd from the left (wearing blue) whose real name is Susan VERY occasionally posts here - her screen name is "miswin". But that's it.
Editing to add - don't forget our own SusanMac's supperclub is also featured in the article! Her picture is in there too, although her name's not mentioned. She's in the Madison, Wisconsin supperclub picture. I believe she's the one in the middle (if my memory serves me correctly - I don't have the magazine in front of me!).
