Our family and guests had mixed reviews on this one. Some really liked it, but others just thought it was OK. My own feeling was that it seemed more like a thick casserole than a dip. I thought it was too dry.

We served this at our Supper Club this month and also had mixed reviews. One of our husbands thought it was the best part of the meal and another thought it was the worse. Different tastes, I guess!

Yes, Peggy, but what did you and your husband think??!! That's the true test as to whether I should try it or not!! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

I saw your review on the best of March and am in 100% agreement with your choices! I'm making the stuffed cabbage rolls again tomorrow...MMmmmm

Grace,

You crack me up!! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif I think we should form an alliance...the G/P (Grace & Peggy) CL Recipe Testers! Every time we receive our new CL issue we can divide up the recipes that look interesting and each try half of them and then compare notes. Think of the time we will save!!! We can recruit others with similar tastes, (ie. pmmahan, for instance), and conquer each issue as it comes... No more complaining about too many recipes, too little time!

Now back to your original question... My DH and I gave this recipe a respectable 7.8/10 on your husband's scale. It is probably worth a try. I seem to recall that we added a chipolte pepper to the bean layer to give it a little more kick, (however it has been several weeks so I can't be sure).

So...what are we making from the April issue???? http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/wink.gif

I made this for friends, but intended to use it as a tortilla filling, not a dip, do the thickness was right on. My friends RAVED over the recipe! I kept telling them how easy it was to make, but I dont think they believed me!

kwormann, I thought your comments were interesting because as we were eating this recipe on chips, I said to my DH, "I don't care for this mixture on tortilla chips that well, but I bet this would make a good tortilla filling." I had thought of rolling up tortillas with the filling, putting them in a casserole, and covering with some kind of spicy Mexican sauce with a little cheese on top, then baking until hot. I may have to try this.
