Ok, I am ashamed to admit this, but I never go to the recipe finder- Kitchen Assistant- or whatever its called. I always find what I want on this great BB- from you guys. But, I was reading a friend's September CL and there's a recipe that caught my eye so I thought I'd look it up. I have the access code, BUT I CAN'T FIND WHERE TO ENTER IT! I am so frustrated! And I feel really dumb. All I can get to is the page that says ACCESS PENDING. Can anyone tell me where to go? I've already wasted more time then I'd like to admit.

Kim,

Did you go to the CL web-site? That's where you can access the recipes:

http://www.cookinglight.com/cooking/

Gail,

I am laughing out loud at myself right now. I must sound like a dummy. :) Yes, I did go to the website, and all that comes up is the ACCESS PENDING page. I cannot find where to enter in the access code. Hmmm, CL has me listed as an expired subscriber, so I wonder if that has something to do with it.

Thanks for your help (and most of all for not making me feel silly). You're so sweet.

Kim,

It may. The access code for August is: icecream.

I too have problems ....and even when I enter the correct code, it keeps taking me back to the screen to subscribe   but will NOT take me to the actual recipes.
I hate that home page and have decided to use other sites that are friendlier and trying to force you to subscribe. Just my experience.

Have you tried using a different computer? After I cancelled my CL subscription in protest of their guerilla marketing tactics, all I get on my PC is an "access pending" page. It won't let me do anything except subscribe. When I use my husband's PC I can get to the bulletin board.

Just thought I would mention, I do not believe that Septembers recipes from the September issue would be in the recipe finder yet, they seem to wait awhile before posting the recipes but I could be wrong.

Terry- I had a feeling the recipe I was looking for wouldn't be there yet, I was just hoping. I can wait.

I was curious, and signed in as a newstand buyer (since that's what I am, pretty much), but I only put in the codeword, icecream, and didn't include my email address, just to see if it would let me in without it.

It worked. Just in case anyone else was wondering.

(Is anyone else irked by the way the site assumes you'll give them your email address just because they don't tell you its' optional? Grrr ... . )

I'm able to sign in, search for a recipe but as soon as I click on the recipe, it brings me back to the sign-on page for the access code or the subscription account.

I HATE THEM!!!!!!!!!! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

ME TOO!!! I thought I was the only one!! I have tried everything I know to do, including emailing customer service, but I got pretty much the same response posted above.

I officially gave up. I just search the BB for all my recipes :p

Well I had been thinking about buying the slow-cooker cookbook, but now I don't think I want to support them. :(

For those having trouble signing in, the code for September is SUPPERCLUBS.

I too experienced problems the other day. I had aleady singed in a a member a while ago - I have a multi-year subscription. When I tried to access a recipe the system asked me to sign in. I went to sign in, or at least tried to, and the next page to come up congratulated me and stated it would send me my two free trial issues??????? And yes, I have also received an invoice for this service. Guess I will have to make another phone call.

I already do subscribe, however, I think through this whole "signing in" think, it signed me up for another subscribtion and I started getting bills!!

I really don't understand why I have to enter my email address in order to access their site. Since I already am a subscriber, I don't need emails asking me to subscribe. I started getting tons of spam after using my email address to get on their site. I did write and complain, but got no reply.

I had this same trouble with Southern Living - I refuse to subscribe to any of their magazines again. I typed in Supperclubs for the September access code for Cooking Light and it still says I have the wrong access code.

Has anyone called Jennifer's attention to this thread? Do you think she has any influence over the problem?

I've also experienced getting into a loop of entering my code, then being taken backto a login screen again. I just don't use the website. :(

Have you tried clearing cookies/history? That should give you a clean slate, and you should be able to get in with the monthly password. Not the best way, but it worked for me before.

I find it extremely annoying that you have to enter any kind of code every time you want to look at something. You should be able to register once - at least if you're a subscriber - and then sign in with an email and password - a password that you can actually remember, instead of some dumb customer number.

But I guess something like that would not let them monitor who is a current subscriber, etc.

Just cleared my cookie/history -still won't work.

It's not just me! I started this thread (http://community.cookinglight.com/showthread.php?t=78556) hoping that it would get an answer, but nothing. I might email Jennifer direct to see if that gets a response.

I never have to sign in after my original time unless I clear my cookies...
