There doesn't seem to be much interest in this tourney and I get the feeling that the only country who is really in to it is Canada. After our dismal showing at the Olympics we need to excel at something- and dang it all that is hockey!:)
Today the US plays Finland in the semi finals and tomorrow Canada plays the Czech Republic. I always enjoy a US-Canada game so hope our respective teams win. The Canadian team is so strong-cos we take this thing seriously!!!:D

Yup...I'm watching if I'm not completely wiped out by the time I get home from work. I'm not as into it as I thought I would be. I'm much more of an NHL hockey watcher than I am a World Cup hockey watcher. I guess I'm more concerned as to whether there is indeed going to be an NHL season ahead. I've already got January 23rd circled on my calendar (as I hope this is the night I will be cheering on my Stars against the Thrashers at Philips Arena).

I am just the opposite MiMo. I watch very little NHL hockey but love international hockey ! Hope you get to see today's game-it's on in an hour or so here so I'll keep tabs to see who Canada will play...oops guess we need to win tomorrow first!:)

I watched the first period before I got distracted organising back issues of Food and Wine. I have missed most of the games due to scheduling conflicts, ie I am at work when it is on:rolleyes:
I will watch tomorrows game without a doubt. Not to be missed. But I am still an NHLer at heart:)
I know I told you I don't watch summer olympics, but I ended up catching quite a bit this year. I know Canada did not make a great showing, but I am happy for every athlete that made it there and the ones that fulfilled their dream and actually won something. I must admit some tears were shed here.... And the good news is that the government has decided there might be a little bit of extra money kicking around for athletics:rolleyes:

I watched the game while flipping through cookbooks Linda!

It was a lackluster game but good for Finland. Will definately watch tomorrow!

You know I am! But not tonight - I'm at the beach house - no CBC here. ;)

Yay Finland - good game! I didn't see it but heard the last few minutes. I'll keep my fingers crossed for Canada against the Czech Republic. I may have to catch some of that game on TV!

Checking the espn website... Yep! I get it on ESPN2! Just no Canadian announcers.

Going to take the boat out - be back later. :)

What a great game! Both teams played with emotion, passion and energy- the first truly great game of the series. Of course the fact that we won helps! All credit to the Czechs- they played a hell of a game!
It really should be these two teams for the finals....oh well.:)
Go Canada Go!

Kima,

I thought of you when I watched the games last week. I'm not surprised the US lost. They always seem to get a little too confident in these kinds of situations and lose. I thought the Canada/Czech Republic game was awesome. I'm a big fan of Vinny, so I'm glad he scored the GW goal. I'll be watching tomorrow night and thinking of you. :)

Go CANADA!! Those Lightning boys are making us Floridians proud! (OK OK, we were pretty proud already.)

I'll be watching, wearing my Team Canada jersey! (Number 19, Steve Yzerman, if you must know.) My Canadian flag is currently indisposed, otherwise it would be hanging on my wall. ;) That may be a good thing, though, because I'd probably be tempted to wear it as a cape on my run tonight, running through the streets after a Canadian win draped in a Canadian flag.

OH YEAH BABY!!! :D :) :p

Some colleagues are at the game. Too lucky. I'm sure they're having a blast :)

Bethany, we ran and walked up and down Yonge St. partying after Canada won the gold in Olympic men's hockey. What an amazing night that was. If Yonge St. weren't so far now I might have been tempted to take the flag down from where it resides (you know where it is) and take it around for another tour! :D

LOL!!! I was in Windsor when Canada won the gold, traitor that I am. ;)

I'm crying now. Partially because I'm happy that Canada won, partially because I'm sad that there will most likely be a lockout.

Oh yeah, I knew you were in Windsor that night. Duh. Forgot!

I'm sad too about the likely lockout. It felt so good to be watching and listening to hockey again. *sigh* But I'm going to try to savour the moment and worry about that later ;)

My litte bear is waving his flag in hapiness!!!
(can I admit I don't own a flag...must rectify that!:o )

Good win -though I enjoyed the Czech-Canada game more. The interviews after the game were a highlight for me- the players were articulate, polite and modest!:) All Canadian eh?????

Natasha-where is your flag???Don't leave it to my imagination!!!:D

Congratulations Canada from Tampa, Florida!! Yea - Vinny - MVP. Pretty good for a substitute!! Let's hope the lockout is short. It sure was fun watching hockey again.
