Just wondering if there are any supper clubs out there in the T.C. area that would be looking for new members or anyone interested in starting a club? We are 30 somethings relatively new to the area and thought it might be a fun way to meet people.

Sounds like fun! We've been trying to organize something for a few years to no avail...maybe we could meet at Amical or Stellas to discuss!

Either place would be great!...any late afternoon or evening during the week would be excellent. Do you know of any others who may be interested?

What kind of club are you interested in? Monthly...couples...etc...If I get an idea of what you have in mind, then I could canvas our group of friends. looking forward to it!

As far as meeting up, I'm pretty flexible but my husband is tied up until late Sept. so we could schedule something for October 4th in the early evening if weekends don't work for you.

Stephanie,
I am actually not sure what kind of club! My girlfriend in NYC meets monthly with a group of women, and every month is a different ethnic cuisine, so maybe that is an option? My husband works on a ship, and his schedule is also iffy through the fall, as his ship goes out for extended amounts of time. Not to say that he would not want to be included at some point, but I do wonder if it would be easier initially to start with a group of women? I am open either way. I have at least one girlfriend who I think is also interested. Let me know, but I think this could be really fun!

Why don't we each ask one girlfriend and start with 4 women. Then if we hear more from this forum (or if hubby's are around) we'll have room to grow. I can meet earlier than October if this is the case. Whoopee!
Stephanie
P.S. I love the sound of the NYC group with ethnic cuisine. mmm

Stephanie,
This sounds excellent. Would you be available to meet next week and maybe hammer out a few details?

Hey Heidi-
I'll just meet you at the bar at Stella. There can't be that many people at the bar...right?!

Hey, if I'm not too late...can you guys keep me posted? I'm in Sutton's Bay, but work in TC. I'm also 7 mos pregnant, so my timing might not be great, but I'd LOVE to get involved in something!

You are definately not too late! We are going to meet October 20 at 7pm in Traverse City (at Stephanie's house), and will plan on doing recipes off of the most recent issue of cooking light. Let us know if you are interested. Because this is so new, we are working out the details as we go. Hope to hear from you.

I'll have to check the calendar--my husband might be out of town that week for a conference, which leaves me with our son & on solo dog duty. But I would be VERY interested in joining up!

Look forward to the 20th.

Well, ladies, my husband is leaving town for a conference on the 20th, so I have to be on solo child/dog duty--which means right after work I have to pick up DS, get home & let the dog out, feed him, etc, or face the consequences! Then I know we're getting into the holidays (and my due date, which is 12/21)...PLEASE keep me posted though--I've wanted to do the cooking club thing for a long time, and I NEED TO GET OUT OF THE HOUSE a little bit!

Too bad you won't be able to join us; maybe just post a thread to let us know when and if your life calms down a bit. Good luck with your new baby!

Too bad for us, for now...sounds like we can have some fun fighting the winter blahs, though.
Heidi- Brian will be home for the 20th and is looking forward to meeting you. As I look over the October issue I like the sounds of the Cabin dinner or maybe some of the spicy stews. Do either of those speak to you? And, are you having luck with any joiners?
Hope the new addition is behaving now that you are back to work.

hey-
Abbey of the kansas city Club posted some "Rules" their club has. Would you look them over and see what you think. For now it seems silly but when we are 12 strong...!

Stephanie,
You are way too on the ball. The rules look good...in time. I have not even looked yet at my magazine, but I will. I am waiting for people to get back to me re. the club, BUT! Terry may be around, which will be cool if Brian is home. P.S. How do I delete some of these messages?

Maybe it'll just be the 4 of us...for now.
The fall menu items don't seem right on a day like today!
I don't think you can delete any of these threads...should we start using our real addresses instead?

Stephanie,
Finally I have looked over the menu. The Cabin menu would be excellent because it involves no menu planning on our part. How do you want to break that up? If you do the meat, I will bring the cheese dip, salad, soup, and wine, of course! Hope all is well. Looking forward to Wednesday!

Hi,
I am fairly new to town too, been here for a couple years, and am relatively young (very close to turning 30) and I enjoy cooking for fun. If anyone is interested in starting a cooking club in t.c. or if there already is one started, I would most definitely be interested in participating. I am not quite sure how this site works yet, but hopefully I'll be able to figure it out :). So if you respond to this and I am slow at getting back, its b/c I have yet to figire this out. :)
Heather
