Do you mean Hoisen Sauce? It's located in the Chinese section of the supermarket by the soy sauce if that's what you mean.

Thanks Emilycat, I thought my spelling was wrong. Obviously, I was correct about that.
Is there a way to do spell check on this BB?

I've never thought about using spell check --and I don't know how to on here anyway!
I'm a grammar/spelling freak, though, so you'll have to excuse me http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

You spell checkers must hate me! I can type really fast, but not without mistakes! Sometimes I correct them sometimes I don't. I guess I can be too laid back for my own good!

Its a spicy-sweet sauce made from slected spices and ground soybeans. Its a thick brown sauce. I use it in a lot of asian recipes - its yummy!
Just checked the ingredient list: sugar, sweet potatoes, water, salt, soybeans, garlic, cornstarch, sesame seeds, spices, and chile pepper.

SoCal- You don't have to say sorry. If you can't laugh at yourself you'll be missing alot of humor in life!!

here is a hoisin recipe:
Cabbage on a roll
8 large cabbage leaves
2 tsp peanut oil
1 small carrot coarsely shredded
1/4 cup sliced mushrooms
1 1/2 to 2 cups shredded cooked pork (or chicken)
1 tbsp grated fresh ginger
1/2 tsp five spice powder
1/2 cup bean sprouts
1/4 cup red sweet pepper cut into thin strips
2 green onions sliced
1/2 cup hoisen sauce
in a 2 quart saucepan bring 6 cups water gently to boiling. Immerse whole cabbage leaves for 2 to 3 minutes or until leaves are limp. Drain well, set aside on paper towels. Remove the center rib form leave if it is too thick
for fillingin a large skillet heat oil. Cook carrot and mushrooms for 2 to 3 minutes over medium hear or until just tender. Stir in pork/chicken, ginger, and five spice powder. Cook for 2 minutes more or until heated through. Remove
from heat. Stir in sprouts, red pepper strips, green onion, and half of the hoisin sauce.
To assemble
Place about 1/4 cups filling on each cabbage leaf. Fold in sides. Starting at unfolded edge carefully roll up each leaf, making sure the folded sides are caught in the roll. Place in a steamer basket.
Steam cabbage rolls, covered over a small amount of boiling water for 5 minutes or until just heated through. Thin remaining hoisin sauce with a little water and serve with cabbage rolls for dipping.
