View Full Version : Up to my eyeballs with address labels

Anyone else too?

I'm really getting annoyed with all those address labels I keep receiving in the mail. Sure, it was nice to get some when we first moved, but now it's almost a daily thing. I just brought the mail in and I have two more. I won't turn this into a rant, but really there has to be another way for these organizations to get us to contribute (to which I do to several throughout the year). I just don't need more labels. :(

Correction: I got three mailings today - one I hadn't opened and didn't realize it would be labels. :(

I was up to my eyeballs in address labels about two years ago. But I have been slowly using them all up and am actually almost out! I wonder if they kind of go in ebbs and flows - a whole bunch of places bombard you at once and then stop. I could use some new ones right now.

Oh no, not here anyway. In the last year, I have probably received about 3 different labels a month. It's become worse lately.

Here it's calendars...I have like five of them.

Ha-ha-ha. Joke is on me. After saying I haven't received any in months, I opened my mail today and found some!

I really, really, really wish that the charity organizations that send these out would please take the money used to print these labels and just keep it for themselves. If they get the printing services donated, couldn't they just ask the company that donates the services to make an equivalent cash donation or something?

#1, I give to many charitable organizations on my own and I do not appreciate what I perceive as being "guilted" into giving because they are sending me labels that I didn't even order. I've actually started tossing these out in protest.

#2, I don't need more stuff (have I mentioned that before??? :D ) and it's a waste!!!! I don't want your Christmas cards, your address labels or your calendars. Save a few trees! Don't print more stuff that we don't want or ask for!

I haven't received lables much lately, but I got a bunch of Christmas/Holiday cards from St. Judes! I was so mad - I'll gladly give on my own, but what about the cost of making and mailing all these cards to people? I suppose they feel they get better donations this way???? Sorry, it just irks me.

Alysha :)

I agree with you completely, Alysha. I've gotten to the point where I no longer send money to any organization which sends me goods. I feel that in essence I'm paying them for trinkets, not for their cause. I just don't see the point...

I also don't need labels which are addressed to Mr. First Name and Mrs. First Name Greminger at my address. Or those printed to Gail Greminger II. Or those with my husband's incorrect middle initial. Or those which put the number 2 after my husband's name. Or those printed with our names run together...

My DH's great aunt, who died a year ago at the age of 93, would return the address labels, calendars, etc to the charity with a letter stating that if they had enough money to print the labels, etc, that they certainly had enough money and did not need her donation :D

When I moved last year I thought I needed new address labels, so I ordered some. Before they came I started getting labels from organizations. Now I get them everyweek and 9 times out of 10 they spell my name wrong! Most of them have designs on them and I have been giving them to my friend who is in scrapbooking. At least she finds use for some of them.
The one that really makes me mad is Easter Seals. I like their calendar, so I always send a check. But now they keep sending me a statement that it is time to contribute. So I have just stopped sending anything.

It's even worse when they spell your name wrong. I have several sets with my last name butchered, and a couple with my first name misspelled.

I get labels sent to me with my maiden name (changed my name over 6 months ago!) at least twice a month. My maiden name is almost always misspelled, by the way. What a waste!

Bumping this thread because I just got labels in the mail. I had made a donation to a charity, and I received them as a thank-you. Not so much a solicitation letter - there was only one line out of a 2-page letter asking for money. They were from Susan B. Komen, and the labels are quite pretty, with nature scenes (tasteful ones, no gold-embossed symbols of patriotism) with pink ribbons. All in all, I'm pleased to see them in my mailbox.

I made a donation to Susan B. Komen a few times and now I get labels about 4 times a year. They just keep coming and coming. BTW - I also received about 3 different sets last week. It must be that time of year.

4 times a year is fine with me. Of course, at present, I'm ONLY getting from Komen. ;)

...Alysha :)

I am so in agreement with this and toss out any that come to our house. My dh on the other hand likes to use them. I guess I feel guilty when they come back and ask how I liked them and would I send money to support their cause. I really like how LaraW's dh's great aunt handled this issue. I hope she won't mind if I borrow it. :D

I keep some for my mail and I give the rest to the kids to play with. They love stickers. It is a bit out of control. I won't send that much mail in my lifetime! At least all our information is correct. I got some really nice ones that I liked a lot, but I refuse to send contributions since the labels are such a blatant waste of funds. I can see sending them as a thank you, but even then, if I give money, I don't want them spending it on me!

Ah yes--especially humourous when they are from environmental organizations. :p Um, obviously you are not going to be a good steward of the money you want me to send you.

And my name is always misspelled.

My name is always misspelled and now they are sending me calendars!
If I put a stamp with each label I would be broke in no time!
