I need to bring vegeterian (dairy is okay) finger foods to a 7th grade function with parents there also. Food should not need any last minute attention or cooking. The function is from 4:30 - 6:30pm.
The only thing I'm coming up with right now is some sort of a veggie wrap or veggies and dip (boring). Any great ideas to inspire me?
I forgot one important part...it has to be nut free.

Hummus and pita chips.
How about a veggie pizza?

Hi!
I don't know how picky your 7th graders are about food (I noticed you live in Danville...I live near Berkeley actually...so I'm assuming that many of these youngsters have been exposed to different types of food)
But just in case, you could try:
1) mini-pierogies (get at Trader Joes or Costco...they taste good at room temp so you can make em and just keep em out)
2) Mini-Samosas
3) Vegetarian Vietnamese Spring Rolls (not the deep fried kind)
4) Cucumber/avocado/carrot sushi rolls
5) Spanakopitas
6) Pita bread with hummus dip (it's still veggies and dip but with an international flair)
7) Assorted Cheeses/Cracker with fresh fruit
Hope these ideas help and give you some leadways!

how about pinwheels? You can use different flavored/colored tortillas, spread with a flavored cream cheese (like chives), put on some lettuce, sprouts, shaved carrots, red bell pepper strips; roll tightly, cut into sections, and place cut sides up on a tray. I always get lots of compliments, and people are always surprised that I made them myself (instead of buying them at Sam's). Honestly, they are soooo easy, and do well sitting out for a few hours.
the pumpkin cheeseball discussed on other threads is really cute, and would likely hold up for several hours sitting out.

If you're thinking about the wrap thing here's a recipe from Oct 98
1 cup feta
2 tablespoons chopped fresh dill or 2 teaspoons dried dill
2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
4 red bell peppers, roasted, peeled, and cut into thin strips
2 yellow bell peppers, roasted, peeled, and cut into thin strips
2 orange bell peppers, roasted, peeled, and cut into thin stirps
4 garlic cloves, minced
8 (8-inch) flour tortillas
8 curly leaf lettuce
1. Combine first 7 ingredients. Line each tortilla with lettuce leaf. Spoon 1/2 cup bell pepper mixture down center of each tortilla; roll up.
Yield: 8 servings
I've had this with non-roasated peppers too.
Or maybe:
Salsa & Chips (or some kind of salsa-cream cheese dip)
Cheesy Biscuits (thinking "pigs in a blanket" but leave out the pig)
snack mix (like Chex mix)
