I had dinner on Wednesday at a fabulous Washington DC restaurant with some friends (actually the friend who started me reading CL). We spent most of the meal talking food (and travel), in particular plating foods and our desire to learn more about this art form. Dessert of lemon chess pie arrived and drove the point home when it was plated perfectly and in a wonderfully unique fashion.

All that to say that my friend expressed that he would like to purchase the plastic bottles chefs use to "squirt" sauces on foods/plates. I would like to get these for him, but aside from picnic katsup and mustard bottles have not been able to locate anything of the sort. I have thus far limited my search to online sources, and am open to any suggestions or ideas. Gina

You can get little "travel" bottles at K-Mart, or similar stores, that have a "pull up" top that probably would work for sauce. I have one that is about 2 or 4 oz and it probably would be great. The type of top I am referring to is similar to that of a sport water bottle, but more pointed - I guess similar to one on a regular mustard bottle (French's). Is that what you are looking for?

mightyh- http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif Yes, we were at Vidalia! It was my first time there and enjoyed it quite a bit. I make a point not to go to places I have been before when I am there, which has allowed me to try some truly fantastic restaurants. I may have to make an exception to that rule for the future though... I probably had the best meal of my life on Monday at a fairly new place, Butterfield 9. I highly recommend it if you ever have the chance.

funnybone-I will check out those bottles at K-Mart. I wondered how something like that would work but wondered about how precisely the liquid would squeeze out if the stopper is in the middle.

I think this is what you're looking for:

In case for some reason the link doesn't work, I found squeeze bottles at Smart and Final, a restaurant supplier.

I think you may have to buy twelve of them, but they're pretty cheap, it appears. Hope that helps.

Gotta go make dinner...
