View Full Version : A dumb question...
Okay this may be a rather silly qustion but I was wondering what you all store muffins in. I don't mean for freezing I have that figured out but when you want to store them fresh. I don't really have an appropriate container and end up using plastic bags alot. Naturally this leads too a squashing effect. I find most plastic rectangle containers are high enough for my oh so perfectly rounded muffins. Any suggestions?? (Oh I am embarrased about this one!!)

Kima-
No question here is dumb! Usually if you're wondering someone else is too!
As far as your question, you just need to go to a Tupperware party. They have a large selection of different sizes and shapes of containers. And it will keep it fresh.

I bake muffins at least once a week (it's all my younger son will eat for breakfast). I always store them carefully in plastic bags and they never get crushed. I usually only keep a few out at a time and freeze the rest, then thaw them in a plastic bag as needed to keep them tasting fresh and delicious.

At Christmas time I bought some of those "throw away" plastic containers. I found some made by Ziploc that are pretty big, and 3 inches deep that works good for muffins. I have wanted to buy more, but have not been able to find them again, maybe you will have luck. Gina

My answer might sound dumber than your question! Like everyone has said already, though, no question is dumb.
I have a big 10 cup Rubbermaid container, kind of like a big bowl with a flat bottom. Bought it at KMart for $8 a few years back. Its great for taking salads and cookies to parties. When I've made something kind of 'fragile' like muffins, they're usually stored on a plate, and I use that bowl (inverted) to cover them. No lid, obviously, just the domed bowl over the plate. Keeps them covered, but doesn't squash them, and I don't have to stack them on top of each other in the container. See? We all have our strange ways.... http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif

Jewel, why don't you use a lid? I use the same container and put my lid on...uh-oh, am I doing something wrong?

I'm also a plastic bag user, with no problems with squashing.

Shoyski, I told you I'm weird...I don't need the lid because the bowl is upside down on the counter, over the plate. If I stored them IN the container, some voice in my brain tells me that I'd have to stack them on top of each other, and that they would get gooshy. I think they get just as stacked and gooshy on the plate. But as I get older I find it's easier to just LISTEN to the voices in my head and OBEY without questions. Bad things happen when I question the voices... http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/eek.gif
