Has anyone tried the new Hershey's cinnamon chips? I saw them advertised in CL and wonder if they're chocolate chips flavored with cinnamon, or just cinnamon-flavored chips, like butterscotch. I can't eat chocolate, so I'd love to substitute these in a cookie recipe if they're not chocolate.
I haven't seen them on my grocery shelves, though -- but I live in New Hampshire, so it might take us a bit longer to get them.

I haven't used them yet, but I'm pretty sure that they're cinnamon flavored and not chocolate.

I used them this past Christmas in my oatmeal raisin cookies. They worked really well. Everyone raved about them. They are just cinnamon flavored, no chocolate.

A few years ago, I had some cinnamon scones that were made with "cinnamon chips." They were impossible to get then (by retail means), and I ended up finding King Arthur's. They make WONDERFUL scones! I saw the Hersheys recently but don't like it that they don't list cinnamon as an ingredient. I think I'll stick with my King Arthur chips. I prefer them over actual cinnamon because they are not so "fiery" hot.

You're kidding -- I can't believe there's no actual cinnamon in them! Artifical flavorings have gone too far!! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

Thanks for the info everyone...I'm going to try them (both kinds!)
