I need your help,

I made these great mocha cookies yesterday and dh liked them but was not fond of the oats. Does anyone have suggestions as to what I can replace them with. I dont think I can just eliminate them it would make the batter to wet I think, the recipe calls for 1 and 1/2 cups of them.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

Some people like the flavor of the oats, but are not too crazy about the texture. I just made some wonderful Banana-Oat Muffins that called for 1-1/2 cups of oats, but the oats were ground up in a food processor! The oat flavor and 'earthiness' was there, but the oat flakes were not. Chances are, your DH would not even know there were oats in the cookies if you'd ground them into a coarse, cornmeal type crumb before they were put in!

I'd try that next time and see what he thinks! Oats are too good and good for you to simply leave out or find a substitution for!

thanks Jewel,

You are right it is the texture as opposed to the flavor that the oats created that he didnt like. Grinding is a very good idea, at least it is worth a try to see if he would like it better.

Thanks for your suggestion.

Maybe Oat Bran would work too.
