ARGH!!! I am sooo frustrated. My son (who is 4), seems to go through cycles of wetting his bed, and then being perfectly fine for months. He had been in a "dry spell" (har har!), and came down around 6 AM to sleep with us a bit in the morning as he does almost every day, and wet my side of the bed! :( So now, my bed smells like pee. Badly. Of course I didn't have a waterproof mattress cover on our bed - and I don't really want one since they are so danged hot. DS is back in pull-ups, since he has been wetting his bed frequently as well.

THEN, to make matters worse, DD had an accident about a month ago in her bed (this is very infrequent - maybe once a year?). I cleaned it up as best I could - not much pee made it thru to the mattress at all, thank goodness. But my dog peed there yesterday! So, besides doing a ton of extra laundry today, I need to get pee out of 2 mattresses (and figure out why in the heck the dog decided to pee on the bed - marking???). What works? We do have a steam vac - maybe oxiclean? Nature's miracle and then steam vac?

Thanks in advance. Off to an enjoyable night on the couch...

My only experience is with dog pee. :o After drying up as much of the urine as possible with an old towel, I saturate the spot with Nature's Miracle or Simple Solution (just make sure it's an enzymatic product, so it will break down the urine) using a spray bottle, then let it air dry. That's really all I've been able to do with mattresses, and it does a good job of getting rid of the smell.

Good luck!

I haven't had to try it, but OxyClean is supposed to be good at removing any organic stains--and if pee isn't organic, I don't know what is! Also, there's a product called Odorzout. It's available online, plus I think the Queen of Clean sells it on her website. Some pet stores also carry it. It does an amazing job of actually absorbing and removing odors. It's expensive, but powerful.
