What can I do to my regular oatmeal to make it instant oatmeal? Grind it in the food processor or blender?

Jackhammer? I have enough regular oatmeal and I hate to buy instant if we don't use it!

Grinding might help (love the graphic). Instant oatmeal has smaller pieces that make it cook faster. Have you tried using it as is?
Just the other morning I tried making oatmeal from regular whole oats for the first time and it only takes 5 minutes. I added some brown sugar, grape nuts, pecans and raisins and it was quite tasty. It does have a very different texture than instant, but I enjoyed it.

Thanks Lindrusso, I used the blender and my Turkey Meatloaf from March turned out wonderful! We only eat the old fashioned oats, even use them to make cookies when instant were called for, turned out great. I was afraid to try it in meatloaf, but delicious!!
