I have not tried it but I almost did...I know that doesn't count. I, too, would like to know if anyone has an opinion.
I tried it last year. I remember tbat it was good, but not great.

I didn't like this. I remember being disappointed because the pic was so yummy-looking and the ingredients looked so pleasing! But in the finished product, i couldn't taste the flavors. It also was far less breaded than the pic was. If you haven't tried it yet, the "stuffed" recipe from that story -- goat cheese and artichokes -- is FANTASTIC and one of CL's top 10 (or 20?) recipes.
I also tried the 'smothered' but didn't like it because I didn't like the shittakes (had never tried them before).

Thanks! Everyone for replying. You are right -- it looks delicious! The ingredient list is wonderful. It's a shame. I will try the stuffed chicken w/articokes & Goat Cheese. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/wink.gifBarbra

Boy the smothered looked good also! Do you think you would have liked it w/snow capped mushrooms? Or was the sauce not that tasty also? http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/wink.gifBarbra

If I tried it again, I would definitely use button mushrooms (sorry to be so 'pedestrian'!). I am looking at the recipe for Smothered Chicken in Mushroom Ragout now and see that I may not be a good source for reviews on it.
I must have completely eliminated the leeks, because I don't remember ever buying them. How did that happen! That may have impacted the dish. I know I omitted the sherry because I've never bought any. I don't tend to like recipes with wine in them and this one calls for wine.
In short, I don't think it is a bad recipe, I probably screwed up and recipes like this (cream sauce, noodles, wine) typically aren't my style -- don't ask me why I chose to try it! I wouldn't discourage you from giving it a whirl.

Oh well.. no problem ... I'm a bit pedestrian when it comes to sea food .. it is expensive and hate experimenting .. especially w/shrimp when it is sooo good already as a cocktail! Also recipes w/clams in their shells never seem easy to eat w/all the veggies in there too. Couldn't one use apple juice instead of the sherry? Sometimes the pictures look much prettier than what I managed to cook up from the same recipes! lol! Thanks! for your response! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/wink.gifBarbra
