I'm so excited - Alton Brown will be at the "Great Big Food Show" and I just got tickets to see his stage demonstration.
I just love AB! :)
I've seen him before, and wondered whether any of you had done so? He made omelets one time, and potato chips the other time I saw him.

I saw him at my county fair last year. Since the theme was tomatoes, he talked about them and demonstrated a tomato soup recipe. Here is the link:

He is also very funny in person and better looking than on tv. I also got his autograph. Have fun! :)

I'm so jealous that you're going to "The Great Big Food Show." I read that Giada de Laurentis is also going to be there. I was in Philly last month visiting my family, and I wish I could go back again for this event. Have a great time and please report back on all the details :)

All the way from CA to Philly? It's a shame you're so far away! I am indeed going to the Philly show, but it's not until 11/7.
(BTW, I'm an Ellen too!)

I'm originally from Philly - Plymouth Meeting actually. I go back a few times a year to see my family and to get a reality check :)

I love AB,will he be in Cleveland too? Maybe I will have to make a trip just to see him. DH really likes him too so that would be fun for us.

My DH likes to watch AB, too. In fact, we're attending the Food show because my husband found out about it and bugged me to get tickets! :)
I got AB to sign his first book for me. He signed it, "May the food be with you." :)

Can you give me more information on the Food Show? Date, location, etc.? Living in NJ, might be worth a trip...

I've never seen him do a demonstration but he was awesome when he was here promoting his second book; took zillions of questions, did photos, autographs, etc. He must've been in the store for HOURS. Anyhow, here's his tour info (http://www.altonbrown.com/pages/doggybag.html#appearances)

Yes, he will be in Cleveland too. I bought tickets as soon as they went on sale. I've never seen him in person before... I am SO excited about going to the show. :D

Checked out the info on the show last night and I am SO excited! Never even knew about it, and to think I came close to missing it! Buying tickets today, just a question of who I can drag with me ... :D
Are you staying over? Looking for a hotel next...

No need for me to stay over since it's local to me. I will tell you this, though - be prepared to stand in a lot of lines. I went to this event a couple years ago, and while I'm obviously willing to go back and the free food samples were wonderful, it was pretty crowded. While AB is quite willing to sign books until the cows come home, I think they only allow him an hour (and the line is often 3 hours long!). The line starts forming at the signature area way before his demonstration is over, so it's tough to know where to spend your time. Watching him, or waiting in another line for him!
For what it's worth, he's really charming in person. Missing out on a chance to talk with him or have your picture taken with him would be a shame.

Do they ever come to Boston?

It's about 2 hours from me, so I think it's easier to stay over 1 night, especially since I'll have my two-year-old with me. Thanks for the heads up on the lines -- are the lines just for the autographs and meet-and-greets? If so, I can handle missing that to make it a little more tolerable for my son. Convinced my mom to go with me so far, since dh works all day Saturday. Found hotel for $105/night about a mile away...

Well, as I recall there were lines thoughout, but not nearly as long as the meet and greet lines. I'd suggest you go as soon as it opens. The other lines are for sampling the free food. We went at a bad time last time (around noon) and the lines for that were about 15 minutes each time.
It's kind of like Disney World for your stomach. You hate it while you're waiting but it seems worth it afterwards. :D
