View Full Version : Has anyone tried the sausage and cabbage yet from April 01?

I'm making this tonight, and wondered if anyone else had tried it yet. I couldn't find the apple chicken sausage the recipe called for, so I'm substituting with regular turkey sausage. I thought the recipe looked good in the magazine, but know I'm having second thoughts.

I made it two nights ago, and thought it was good. I was able to find chicken aple sausage and thought it was yummy.
My only problem with it was the amount of liquid. I might try simmering it longer!

I made it using Hillshire Farms low fat kielbasa. The store was out of the chicken-apple sausage and I was impatient to wait another day. We thought it was good although the red cabbage was still a bit a la dent and it was a bit watery.
I do want to try it with the correct sausage. Also I added a dash of applejack since I didn't have the right sausage!
