I hope that is the name of the recipe! Anyway, this wasn't very good. Didn't taste like much.

Thanks donleyk - I was looking forward to trying this. I am, however, a big swiss cheese fan - are you? If not, maybe this is why you didn't like the taste? Sort of like the case with bleu cheese - either ya like it or ya don't - there's really no middle ground! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif

Sandy, I LOVE Swiss Cheese, and I made this soup and had the exact same reaction (so did everyone at my supper club except one person). Anyhow, I could hardly detect any swiss cheese in it at all.
I really wouldn't bother with this soup. Totally bland and not worth the effort or the relatively expensive ingredients.

Yup, love swiss and that is part of the problem... can't taste it or much of anything else.

Oh my goodness I'm so glad you both responded. This was definitely on my "to try" list, and now - uh uh. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/frown.gif
Thanks.

Well, I tried this soup despite the posted reviews and yes, it is a bit bland, but I still like it. I think the homemade turkey broth I used helped. I also used Gruyére which is a bit stronger than swiss.
I think that one way to give this soup more zip would be to forget the half and half (pureeing 1/2 the soup makes it thick enough and the half and half doesn't add much taste anyway), use skim milk instead, and up the cheese to maybe two cups. Or add bacon...or maybe some sherry...
Anyway, I'm not ready to give up on yet, but I don't know that I'll be in a rush to make it again either.

I did just what lindrusso suggested....forgot to buy half and half and used skim instead spending my "fat calories" on extra cheese instead. It was pretty good but next time I plan to use basmati rice instead of the wild rice. The wild rice tasted only so-so and stunk up my kitchen cooking it!

Maybe I'm the odd man out, but I loved this (made exactly as the recipe says) and will be making it often!

i just loved this soup too. i made it as directed and didn't change a thing. I loved the wild rice and the mild swiss cheese taste.
