Although the networks do not report on exit polls (and they are not always 100% reliable), the early exit polls show the key battleground states trending for Kerry. According to the exit polls, he has huge leads (double-digits) in: Pennsylvania, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and New Mexico, and narrow leads in: Ohio and Florida. Iowa exit polls still show a tie.

Exit polls do not reflect absentee ballots or early voters (those who voted prior to today).

That's what we are hearing in D.C. politically-interested offices as well . . .

Slate.com is reporting more recent exit polls that show closer races in states like PA and really close in Ohio and Florida, but still Kerry leading.

Interestingly, the stock market has been assuming Bush will win and was relatively strong today. When those early polls came in it took kind of a dip. Will be interesting to see what happens.

The article I read interpreted the stock market bullish activity as a feeling that the results wouldn't be tied up in the court system, not about a particular winner. But maybe that interpretation was about before early poll results. I think I read it on CNN or MSNBC but couldn't tell you for sure now.

I'm not sure the early results mean much with so much early voting happening but it does help keep me entertained throughout the day. The record turnout is amazing though.

Is this cool or what? Election Night coverage on Cooking Light! :D

Ok...speaking of Election Night coverage, which television station is everyone watching? Local ABC/CBS/NBC? CNN? Headline News?

In case anyone missed it, our own CL 'popular poll' that I started yesterday has Kerry with an almost 2-to-1 lead. :D

I'm tempted to stick with The Daily Show and just let myself be surprised when I wake up tomorrow and boot up the computer or turn on the TV. :D

I will probably do what I always do--switch constantly back and forth between all of them. But if I see Tim Russert get out his chalkboard again, I'm definitely changing the channel. He was way off base last time and gave me false hope! ;)

I switch back and forth, trying to find the result I want...

Yup, local ABC too. So far the only projections are for non-swing states...

And now they are saying that it looks like the exit polls may be wrong, since the counting has started, although it still is too soon to tell.

Thanks for that link Lorelei--that's great. I watched the Daily Show because I can't stand all the mainstream media hooha and yabbering bigheads and I'm now in partial avoidance.

It appears that the early polls were wrong. Current results for the Electoral College are Bush #240, Kerry #225. Must wait to hear the Ohio results but it's looking like Bush (even with the popular vote). Those are the current facts.
