This recipe was prepared recently on Michael Chiarello's show, though I myself prefer the fresh flavors of fruit without a dressing on it.
Recipe Summary
Difficulty: Easy
Prep Time: 20 minutes
Yield: 12 servings
User Rating: No Rating
1 cup creme fraiche, sour cream or yogurt
1/2 cup orange juice
1/4 cup lemon juice
3 tablespoons sugar
12 fresh mint leaves, chopped
2 ripe bananas
1 cantaloupe, peeled, seeded and cut into chunks
1 ripe pineapples, peeled, cored and cut into chunks
1 pint strawberries, hulled and quartered
1/2 cup red seedless grapes
3 kiwi, peeled and sliced
In a small bowl, combine the creme fraiche, orange and lemon juices, sugar and mint.
Peel and slice the bananas, put in a large bowl, along with the cantaloupe, pineapple, strawberries and grapes. Add the crème fraiche mixture and toss gently to coat the fruit with the dressing.
Put the salad into a serving dish or bowl and garnish with the kiwi slices.
Chef's notes:
I've also served this salad with a scoop of frozen yogurt instead of mixing in crème fraiche.

CL featured a fruit salad in October '03. The dressing was equal parts (3 Tbsp) poppyseed dressing and orange mango fat-free yogurt. I've also substituted lemon and strawberry yogurt. Very easy and very good!

I had an amazing fruit salad at a brunch some time ago. The dressing was made with yogurt, honey and lemon juice. I can't remember what the proportions were though.

Try just straight vanilla yogurt--it's delicious! Or you could add a hint of cinnamon to the yogurt, too, if you'd like.

I just use a splash of orange juice. DH doesn't like any of the sauces I've tried.

I don't usually make a sauce, I just pour some of the pineapple juice over the chopped fruit. Bonus: It helps keep the fruit from turning brown!
Hi Vanessa!
You've probably already made your decision by now (I know I've been MIA lately) but just wanted to concur with Kathy on this. Frankly, I think when you make a fruit salad ahead of time and fridge it to allow the natural juices and flavors to blend, no dressing is even necessary. The fruits do it very nicely themselves!
You might also have a look at the fruit salad in Taste of Cuba, which has got sort of a lime dressing. That's the one I made for my mom's birthday party back in June.
I'm sure whatever you made is going to be great!

I know it's late, but I recommend the dressing used for Macedonia di Frutta (Mixed Marinated Fruit) (CL, March 2001). You can really use any combination of fruits.
2 cups chopped cantaloupe
1 cup chopped peeled peaches
1 cup chopped strawberries
1 cup blueberries
2/3 cup chopped peeled nectarines
2 peeled kiwifruit, halved lengthwise and thinly sliced
Marinade:
1/2 cup fresh orange juice (about 1 orange)
1/4 cup sugar
2 tablespoons grappa (Italian brandy) or brandy
1 1/2 teaspoons grated lemon rind
Put all ingredients in a large bowl; toss gently to combine. Cover and chill 2 hours.
The longer it sits, the better it gets! It's also really great over yogurt or french vanilla ice cream...
