View Full Version : Desperate Housewives- did you watch?

If you didn't watch it, then don't read this because there's going to be a spoiler.

Something occurred to me this morning. So Zach mentioned Dana, and then the blanket that Paul wrapped the crystal dish in said Dana, and that blanket came from a box labeled "Baby Stuff". Think Zach accidentally killed his little sister?

And where was the "plumber" last night?

That is exactly what I am figuring. Dana was Zach's little sister and her body was what was in the crate that was under the pool then dug up and thrown in the lake. The crate popped up a couple episodes ago and was on the news but they haven't revisted that story line yet.

Hmm. . I'm not sure. I think maybe that's what the show writers want us to think right now, but in the end there will be a twist.

I love this show - it's the first program on network television in a long time that I'm excited to watch each week.

Another great episode! Has Bree ever played Mary Alice's therapy tape yet? Have I missed something?

I agree about the Dana story...it would be to predictable for it to be his sister (but logical). I missed the whole first half hour of the show....I got home when Gabriella was threatening to call her husband about his mother. Can somebody fill me in on what I missed?

I got home when Gabriella was threatening to call her husband about his mother. Can somebody fill me in on what I missed?

OK - let's see. Lynnette was on a committee at her twins' new school to plan the class play - she butted heads with an uptight mother who wanted to make "Little Red Riding Hood" PC by having the hunter helping the wolf instead of killing him.

Edie plotted with her daughter to find a way to get to the hospital where Zach is staying. (well, first, she found out that Zach is in the hospital by borrowing a neighbor's car and following the dad)

Gabriella saw her boyfriend with Bree's daughter - he reminded her that they were "in school together." Bree indicated that she wasn't worried about her daughter spending time with him since they were in "abstinence club" together, which was a funny line. Her mother-in-law played poker with the other ladies and won a lot of money, but then Carlos told Gabriella that his mother had a serious gambling problem. Gabriella dropped her MIL off at the casino so that she could go spend time with her boyfriend, and the MIL lost $15,000.

Bree's husband told the therapist that he and Bree had sexual problems. The therapist suggested that they use a "sexual surrogate"; Bree stormed out of the therapy.

Linda, I think the only thing they got from that tape was that her name was actually something else. I can't remember what at the moment. Which leads us to believe (again, maybe falsely believe) that something happened that caused them to move and change their names....

What would all this have to do with the plumber? I keep thinking he's looking into Mary Alice, but there wouldn't be outside interest if it was her daughter that died. We definitely only have like 10% story so far!!!

Too bad it won't be on next week!

Just wanted to add, and I'm not sure this will help, but...I read in an interview w/ the guy who plays the "plumber" that his character is trying to find out information on his wife's death. I don't know if one of them was involved, knew her, etc. Its tied in somehow.

Oh, I just remembered that I saw Nicollette Sheridan (Edie) on an interview last week and she mentioned that somebody dies. She didn't say any more, so I'm not sure when it will be, or who.

Nothing, nasty woman said she didn't have time for this and walked away. Lynette just looked satisfied.

Do you think Rex might be gay? I thought maybe that Rex and Paul had an affair and Zach found out and sent the note (I know what you did....) to his dad. Maybe Mary Alice found the note, found out Paul was gay and killed herself. That could be why Zach feels guilty. Probably way overthought and that doesn't explain the Dana thing....

I love this show! I can't wait for Sunday's at 9:00 to arrive each week. I can't believe the AMA is taking its place next week. Bummer.

I can't figure out what Mike (the plumber) is doing either. The maps and the gun in the cabinet made him look suspicious...is he going to pull off a major robbery of/in the neighborhood. Is he looking for clues to who or what caused his wife's death? Will Susan and Mike hook up? Will Gabriella get caught with the young studly dude? Will Lynnette take her sons' ADHD medication again? (I thought that scene was hysterical.)

I almost fell off the couch laughing at the scene between Bree and her husband. I was yelling "Ignore the sandwich!!" about as much as he was! :D That next scene with the two of them was very interesting. I can't wait to see where they're taking that story line.

Two long weeks. :(

I think the idea of Zach killing his baby sister is just bait...they want us to think that! I am more inclined towards the father being the murderer, and Zach feeling guilty about the cover up. Or maybe he knew something about what his father did and told someone and his mother found out and then she killed herself. Zach is a bit strange, but he mostly seems to me like a sad teenager with a rough life, not a mean one. Now his father, HE is the one who is really creepy!! What better way to make his son shut up than to put him in that asylum?

It was an hysterical scene and I loved her line as she was walking out the door: "Obviously, you've never had to remove a cheese stain!" Or the scene in the therapist's office when they were proposing a sexual surrogate and when they got done with their pitch she asked in her best perky, perfect suburban wife persona: "How long is your midlife crisis going to last because it's beginning to really PISS ME OFF!" When she confronted her husband after the debacle at the motel and demanded he tell her what his real problem is my first thought was "He's going to tell her he's gay" All along they've been making it look like the marriage is failing because of her being so uptight and now there seems to be more to it.

I LOVE this show! I thought last Sunday's episode was the best yet. Lynette challenging that woman at her son's school and taking the ADHD medication (ending with her cleaning the panes on her kitchen cabinets with Q-tips!) was wonderful; as was the turnaround with Bree where we are now seeing that maybe the problem with the marriage isn't all hers. How about the scene when Bree was at dinner and joined the therapist and began explaining why she loved sex?? I was still laughing during the commercial. GREAT SHOW!!!

In re: Mike the plumber- last week we saw him meeting in a park w/ someone who appeared to be a "handler" or partner- so I'm guessing he's either a PI or FBI.

My wild theory is that maybe Mary Alice and family were in the witness protection program and Mike turned up to investigate her death. Except that I'd think if they were in the witness program, the FBI would have whisked Paul and Zach when Mary Alice died.

I think the Dana thing will end up being a red herring- I bet Zach didn't kill her, though he may believe he did.

I did read that the Mary Alice mystery will be resolved by the end of the season.

I am loving this show!

Supposedly one of the "husbands" is gay (according to gossip spoiler sites). I think it's going to be Carlos, though.

I remember that...I was sure there were 3 little boys and a baby. Didnt she leave the boys on the curb and drive off and some lady took them in and threatened her?
My theory about Dana is that Mary Alice killed her unintentionally and they were covering for her.

I'm hooked on this show, I don't think its fair that thier making us wait 2 weeks to see another episode. I don't know why but I think Bree's husband might be hiding something like he's gay or something dramatic happened to him and thats why he's such an a@@. Noticed how he walked away when she tried to get him to tell her whats wrong? I don't think zach killed his sister but I think Mike might be investigating, because in all tv shows they make it seem like a particular character is the killer when he was not all along (for example mike's tool missing...hmmm probably not the killer after all). Oh and I hope gabriella gets caught, what a meanie! I do like that boy however...grrrrrr baby!

In today's USA Weekend it has an article on Desparate Housewife...it gives a little about each character and it says Lynette is a stay-at-home mom with 4 rambunctious kids. And James Denton (he plays Mike)indicates that he gets to make out with Teri (Hatcher) ie Susan!
I really like the relationship that Susan has with her daughter. Its a relief to see a teen-ager that is not sassy. Well, one more week.

I watched last night and thought it was incredible. The previews definitely were attention-getting!! It does seem to lean toward Edie as the one who's, uh, "leaving" the show. Unfortunately, it seems too obvious!

I think it will be Mrs. Huber who dies. Her death would be very interesting to the plot, but also leave all our main characters intact. She cracked me up hauling that guy in her wheelbarrow over into Bree's hydrangeas -- too funny!!

I find it very interesting how Mary Alice's family was covering up a dirty secret, and now Bree's family will be, too. I wonder if the writers are doing that on purpose?

Can't wait until next week's show!

Escher has been watching DH (the show) with an eye towards the doors and windows. Guilty pleasure indeed.

Still, it has a certain wit to it I enjoy. More clever than a soap, has a bit of humour and mystery rolled into it, plut something of a mirror reflecting on the absurdity of suburbia.

Between DH and Lost, I'm set for the tv-watching season.

But I'd miss Mrs. Huber! :( She's so deliciously passive aggressive. I'm really enjoying Marcia Cross's character revealing herself as such a feisty ball of angst. It started out as her being so buttoned up that none of her family could stand her and now it's being revealed that they are the ones behaving badly. The things that come out of her are so funny because of the outwardly prissy, chirpy package. I love this show and laugh every time I think of all those conservative groups that successfully put pressure on some of the advertisers earlier in the season to pull their ads because of the disgraceful lack of 'family values'. Since it's such a hit I'm sure the advertisers are gnashing their teeth that they're missing out for selling out.

I have not opened this thread before this morning, and until last night, had not seen any of the show. I read an article in Newsweek about it, and I loved the way they talked about the creator and how he took average stuff and spoofed it by making uit just a bit larger than life. And it spoofs what I call the Barbie Doll Club.

Well, I tried to watch it and had to get the boys to bed, my brother called and had a temper tantrum and I still had to get the boys to bed. Maybe I'll catch the reruns. I think I'm too far lost to jump in now.

I am new to the DH's Wisteria Lane world (only second episode)- so let me see if I have it right?

Mary Alice (voice over lady) killed herself after being threatened by a note to reveal her secret which has something to do with Dana, owner of baby blanket, possibly in box under the pool/lake?
(Seems impossible that in a neighborhood of Nosy Parker's no one would notice that your baby just disappeared- oh well.) Does anyone know how long they have lived there?
Her son Zach, punched his father in the face, feels guilty over something to do with Dana and was sent to an psych institution.
(Did she really shoot herself and drag herself outside to die like realtor lady said?)

Bree (channelling Martha Stewart) is neighborhood perfection, but has dwi agressive son, model wanna be daughter and husband who has a sexual problems and suddenly wants to divorce. Also took tape of Mary Alice with her shrink. (did they ever listen to the tape?)

Mike the "pumber" is really a PI hired by the dad to investigate the death of some woman who spent her last night in a flakey western bar and who's hottie sister Kendra ruined his first date with Susan. Not related to the Dana/ Mary Alice story. (I just knew lame mechanical bulls would make a comeback someday!)

Gabrielle, bored former model married to rich guy Carlos, who would kill her if he knew she was sleeping with hot yard boy who is dating Bree's daughter. MIL spying on her, catches her "in flagrante" but gets hit by dwi son of Bree's. Possibly Dead person we have been hearing about- though looked alive at end of last nights show.

This is more complicated than the Plantagenate/ Tudor family lineage from Shakespeare!

Great synopsis. You should see if Television Without Pity needs a writer :) Mary Alice died in the room where she shot herself, Edie was tongue-in-cheek when talking to Paul about saying she died outside so he wouldn't need to reveal the information to potential buyers. I missed the beginning of the episode where the women listened to Mary Alice's tape. I think the only thing that was revealed was that Mary Alice's real name is something else.

The only thing you are missing from your synopsis is Lynette. Have any questions on her?

I totally identify with her the most too! I only have 2 kids as well but I'm a SAHM. I have a very active son (and a wonderful, calm little daughter) and I want to pull my hair out sometimes. Some ADD medication would really do the trick sometimes!

totally agree with you all-great acting by Felicity Huffman indeed. I think a lot of moms (and dads too) can relate to the fact that she's not perfect, and just wants to be a good parent. I wonder how her husband will react to all of this? Or if she'll tell him?

Also, another great place for recaps all is TV Tome. Easy to catch up if you missed-but a lot happened so definitely keep yourself updated!
