Did you make my beloved Eating Well cake today for your husband's birthday? I hope it was a hit and you can see what all the fuss is about now!
Many thanks for finding it for me.

Peeps -

Can't believe you remembered...how nice of you to think of me and my husband the birthday boy today. The house smells like chocolate as we speak. The DAWTH cake smells and looks just wonderful. I made it in the bundt pan and used the buttermilk glaze. Can't wait to try it tonight after dinner. By the way, dinner consists of Refritos (refried beans) and Nachos Sauce served with rice on warm tortillas from the Moosewood Cookbook. We'll also be having guacamole thanks to this BB.

I'll let you know how my husband and I like his birthday cake!!

Oh wow! It was just wonderful. Moist and fudgy. All of the reviews for this Eating Well Died and Went to Heaven Cake were right on target. It does not taste lowfat!

My husband and I each had two pieces. Yum.

Uh oh- another victim! yes, peeps, we are all hooked.

Speaking of husband's birthday's, my hubby's birthday is in two weeks. I saw that you can make this cake many different ways. Do you think it'd be good as a layer cake with some, say, marshmallow-y frosting? I don't know why I'd want to do that- must be those darn pregnancy hormones again. They put strange ideas in my head- especially where chocolate is concerned.

Mrs. Reber-
This cake would be good no matter what you did with it! I know people have tried bundt, 9x13, layers and all worked well and marshmellow-y frosting sounds divine - um when did you say you would be making that and what was your address again?

Where can I find the recipe for this cake? My curiosity is piqued!

Here is the thread where the cake recipe was initially posted..
http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/Forum1/HTML/005346.html

Since then, there have been several threads that talk about the cake.

Mrs. Reber - I agree with peeps. You can't mess this cake up. Any topping would go well with it.

As I mentioned, It is an extremely moist and fudgy cake. I just used the glaze which actually sunk into the outer layer and made it even more moist. In general, I am a huge frosting fanatic. When I am eating a frosted cake, I usually like the frosting better than the cake itself. But in this case the cake was so good that I didn't miss the buttery frosting that I usually use for cakes.

p.s. peeps, I think it was this cake thread that got me hooked on the BB for good. membership status came very quickly after that.

Oooh, what if you made it with a marshmallow filling, and then topped it with a cooked chocolate icing that would sort of harden on the outside (no recipe, just memories of a fabulous cake I got from a bakery once). It would be like a giant Mallomar. Yum!

Glad it was a success! Hey - did you notice we're members now? How did I get that many posts so quickly?! That cake posting was my first ever and I didn't think I'd be back but now I'm hooked on this thing!

Oh my, it's too early to be thinking about a big chocolate cake, but Susie that sounds awesome- what an idea! Marshmallow filling and chocolate frosting. I want to take the day off for hubby's birthday and make him a home made cake. I usually get him an ice cream cake on my way home from work. Or last year, we got a chocolate mousse cake (horribly fattening) from our local bakery. But a giant mallomar? Who could resist?

Peeps, I'll send you a peice! I don't know how we'd eat the whole thing ourselves!
