I have to agree about the lasagna. I made it with the Gorgonzola, and actually followed the recipe to the letter-- a rarity for me. It was so bland that we threw the rest out. It's a shame, because the recipe really sounded wonderful when I was reading it.

We were disappointed with the Carmalized Onion & Gorgonzola Lasagna. We did make a couple of changes that could be significant - we're not big blue cheese fans so used feta instead. Too bland - I think we should have stuck with the gorgonzola. We also did half the recipe and used whole wheat lasagna noodles. I didn't care for the taste of the evaporated milk. It was a fairly messy lasagna and overall I'd much rather have the zucchini casserole with red pepper aioli that is somewhat similar (zucchini & carmelized onions). On a positive note it was a hearty serving size.

Served it with strawberry-mixed greens salad from the search which was good but the sweetness of the onions and the strawberries so not a good match. Additionally I was disappointed that the potato-whole wheat bread I'd made with purple potatoes wasn't purple at all (trying to come up with a naturally purple bread for an office "thing" for my husband - guess I'll go to blue cornmeal). So all in all a rather disappointing meal for us.

I'll have to disagree on this one. I really liked this recipe. I used a Danish Blue that I had in the fridge and added a little Bleu Cheese powder for The Spice House. I also halved the recipe. I did not find the dish to be messy. Oh well, I guess this is just another example of "different strokes for different folks".

I just wanted to add that lindrusso also gave this dish a really good review -- I'm planning to make it this week, so I'll let y'all know what I think. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

Both DH and I liked this recipe. I used whole wheat pasta (convinced by the whole wheat discussions in other posts) and blue cheese I already had that needed to be used up. I'm not sure if I would serve it for company however, unless you were sure they were really into blue cheese and onions. We are, so I will probably make it again.
