I will be making the blueberry pound cake tonite and have a dumb question. I will be using frozen blueberries. Do you defrost the berries first or use them as is?
Thank you for your answers. Although I have been cooking for years, I consider myself to be a novice baker and am trying to bake more.

I used them frozen in the cake. I find that defrosting them makes them mushy and causes the batter to "stain" more than if frozen.

One tip I've picked up for using frozen berries...I'll usually toss them in just a little bit of flour, enough to coat them. This seems to keep the "berry bleeding" to a minimum, at least while I stir them into the batter.

That's a good tip Carrie. It also keeps them from sinking to the bottom of the cake!
