On Friday I had to go to a part of town to which I've never been for an errand. On my way back, I stopped to get gas. While the gas pumped, I blankly stared across the street lost in thought when, lo and behold, what do I spy in the distance? A great big, beautiful "Penzeys Spices" sign! I rubbed my eyes thinking they were deceiving me but no, it was still there. I finished at the pumps and hopped in my car, racing across the street at breakneck speed. Yes, it really was true. There's a great big Penzey's store in Memphis! I pulled up right as the owner was closing but he insisted that I come in while they closed up to look around and smell everything. I thought I had died and gone to heaven. The owner, who was amazingly nice, said that the store had only been open a few weeks. I asked if it had to do with their recent contest, even though I knew we hadn't won anything, but he said that this store had been in the works long before the contest.
So, any of you in the Memphis area, if you didn't already know, there's a Penzeys on Poplar Avenue (don't know the exact address but it's way out east) and they are open from 10-6 M-Saturday. Yeah for Memphis!
