Sorry if anyone has already posted this.

They did mention in at the end of the contest that they weer considering Phoenix because it came in second but the plans are set and its going to open before the Boston store. I was in a Penzeys over the holiday (my first in person experience) in Michigan and the people in the store said it was opening in December. I checked through their catalogs and one says November (that didn't happen) and one says February. I think its on Haydon in Scottsdale. So all of you locals, keep scouting for us who are ready for a road trip.

I am going to take a trip there next fall. It looks like I had better start saving my money. Thanks for the information!

I think it's going to be on Hayden and Frank Lloyd Wright.

I'm going to their store in Des Moines over Christmas. Sales tax is lower there too!

This news is like an extra Christmas present. I'll hop on the freeway about once a month to check it out. Certainly stop on my way to or from Verde Valley.

My SIL is excited to get her "own" store and has been scoping out likely locations on Hayden for about a month now! I'll tell her to check at FLW!

Actually, from what I've found online, the new Scottsdale store will be at Hayden and Osborn, in the Office Max Plaza. I'm somewhat disappointed with their choice of location (a strip mall?), but am excited to be within driving distance of a Penzey's again!

Two words: ROAD TRIP!

According to Penzey's catalog which arrived today, the store isn't likely to open until February. That might be too long to wait if you're holding onto an order. :(

OK it's going to be at Hayden and Osborne in the Office Max strip center.

Not really convenient for me (I live in Cave Creek) but I'm willing to make a special trip or two or three

Any news on this yet? The last I heard was it was opening in January but I haven't heard anything so I'm guessing it was delayed.

I have not heard anything, and I'm getting somewhat desperate since I'm running low on several items but haven't wanted to place an order because the store was coming! Haven't been able to find anything online, either, about an estimated opening date.

In the spring 2005 Penzeys catalog that I got in the mail today it says there is a new store in Scottsdale at 3310 N Hayden Road. So I would assume its open! Will have to try to get out that way this weekend. Hope its actually open!

I finally got tired of wondering when they're opening, so I called them. This Friday at 9:30 a.m. :)

We are moving out to NE Phoenix this summer from NJ! This is great news to me about a Penzeys store. So, maybe all you Phoenix residents could recommend your favorite food stores for me. Where do you love to shop for fresh veggies, good meats and fish? I could really use some local advice. I know where I'll be buying my spices! :)

Yay, Barrie! Thanks for taking the initiative. I am uber-excited to restock in person. My friend & I were thinking of going this weekend, but I imagine the place will be jam-packed. I'll give it a few weeks, or as long as I can last before I start running out of stuff.

Spice of Life, welcome (in advance) to Phoenix! I am probably not the best person to answer your question, because I've only lived here a little over a year, but I do my shopping all over - Fry's ("regular" grocery store, like Safeway or Kroger) for conventional items, AJs (a local upscale, gourmet grocery store) for imported, hard-to-find, or exotic items, Whole Foods for organic produce, dairy, specialty meats, seafood, etc., and Trader Joe's for the occasional random item. I considered joining a CSA this year but ended up deciding not to, only because I've been too busy to cook consistently enough to really get good value from that, and there are also Farmer's Markets all over town.
